It’s the 23rd of April today. The newspapers are filled with stories and information regarding the outbreak of a certain flu since two weeks. Not much is known about it, though some reports suggest it’s ‘only’ a mutated virus. Perhaps I shouldn’t worry so much. I live in Dallas, while the virus’s origin seems to be traced back to South India. The first episode of the series ‘24’ is to be aired today. I’m watching a silly teleshopping feed about a steam iron when it’s suddenly interrupted by a news feed. The reporter began by introducing the virus and then stated that the strange ‘flu’ has made its way into Nevada, Texas and Kansas. I am informed to keep all my windows shut, to constantly wash my hands and face with clean water, and to avoid interaction with strangers. …show more content…

We’re nearing the end of May. There are riots every other day around the world. The virus has entered Europe and the Americas. The death toll so far is 30,956 deaths worldwide. The highest reported deaths are in India. Food is falling short. Grocery stores are being robbed as I write this. My latest news feed shows that due to the rise in tension around the world, the Japanese ‘cure’ is to begin clinical trials. The WHO and other global health organisations are to participate. The trials are to begin with humans immediately due to the urgent requirement of a cure. Somehow, I have a bad feeling about this. The Japanese drug finished trials yesterday. After observation, it was found that the drug is effective! Production is to begin soon. Batches of the drug will be delivered country-wise. The toll has shot up to 185 thousand deaths. I am losing weight by the day. The Electric Company provides electricity only from 4pm to 7pm now. Everything is rationed. The first hundred batches of the drug were delivered to South Asia today.
