The amount of coverage that CNN dedicated towards Flight 370 wasn’t the only thing that was criticized. The ways that CNN filled their airtime with coverage of the missing coverage have been criticized for not being journalistic and being out of control. The coverage began as traditional, hard news coverage of the facts and the situation as a whole. CNN went live with Pierce Morgan when the news broke that the plane was missing. He immediately got on the phone with David McKenzie, the International Correspondent; James Kallstrom, a former FBI assistant director; and Matthew Wald, the New York Times Aviation Correspondent. In the first moments of the breaking news, Morgan said that the airplane had likely landed in Vietnam and there were unconfirmed reports suffered an electrical …show more content…
New York Magazine posted an article titled “CNN’s 9 Most Deplorable Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Moments,” and included coverage that ranged from Don Lemon questioned if something “supernatural” happened to theories about black holes to the poor use of the breaking news tag (Raymond, 2014). Nine days after the flight went missing, CNN anchor Don Lemon toyed with the idea that “something odd happened to this plane, something beyond our understanding?” (McMurry, 2014). CNN took the time to examine conspiracy theories including black holes and the Bermuda triangle, even referencing the television show Lost. CNN even attempted to rent a real Boeing-777 to supplement their coverage of MH370, but “found it impossible” (Rothman, 2014). Instead, the network settled for a Canada-based flight simulator and had Martin Savidge report from the cockpit for multiple weeks. John Stewart took time to criticize CNN’s tactics on his show, “The Daily Show.” He joked, “(The breaking news segment) was an accurate and humble assessment from CNN…until they realized we have 23 hours and 59 minutes to fill. F*** it, let’s go
There are a bunch of conspiracies in this world and there's a few on the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001. One of the theories is that inside traders knew about the attacks before they happened. As said in an article, “in the days before 9/11 there was a huge increase in the number of put options purchased on their airlines, compared to the normal average daily volume.”(Davis) Before I explain what that means the article also mentioned, “ this huge increase in the volume of put options suggests that the people buying these put options knew in advance that 9/11 was about to happen.” (Davis) What the quotes are saying, is that a few days before 9/11, out of nowhere, there was an huge increase in the airlines, that were hijacked, stock markets. The conspiracy theory is that the government was aware of the attacks the entire time but because they were making profit, this did nothing about it.
Flight 93 is a 2006 film, directed by Peter Markle, which narrates the events that occurred during the United Airlines Flight 93 during the 9/11 attacks. The movie was released on April 28, 2006 on the A&E Network, and was re-broadcast several times throughout 2006. The film stars Jeffrey Nordling, Colin Glazer, Brennan Elliott, Ty Olsson, Jacqueline Ann Steuart, Laura Mennell, Barry W. Levy, Biski Gugushe, and Dominic Rains, amongst others. The film was rated PG-13 for some violence and emotional illustration of the hijacking situation. Some historical significance in the film is that, Marion R. Britton is seen handing her mobile phone to fellow passenger Honor Elizabeth Wainio so she can call her mother. It was actually Lauren Grandcolas
Is the government covering up the truth about the September 11 event in New York City or it’s just classified information that the world is not ready for. For many Years people around the world have came up with all these conspiracy theories about 911. theories such as Flight 93 being completely staged, there really was no second plane, some even say inside traders knew about attacks before they happened. These theories have many people wondering if the government really is covering up the truth about 911. Though no one can prove whether some 911 conspiracies are true , there are many suspicious events leading up to the tragedy that point to foul play.
When the media began reporting the United Airlines incident to the world they used sensationalism to create public interest. This sort of tactic is commonly used by the media provide public interest and awareness through the use of exciting or shocking language in stories but can risk the accuracy of the information (London, "How the Media Frames Political Issues"). Sensationalism can be seen in the titles of the articles and videos that describe the events that take place, words like “horrified,” “horrific,” “forcibly,” and “infamous” are all used ("United Airlines changes policy after 'horrific' passenger ordeal"). By using those types of words in the titles the media is able to catch the public’s attention whether they are watching or reading about the event. Similarly, this tactic was also used when BBC interviewed Dao’s daughter, Crystal explained how she was “sickened: by the event and that “it should not have happened to any human” ("United Airlines passenger's family 'horrified’”). This sort of language and the images of Crystal crying as she tell the press about what happened to her father creates emotionally charged responses from viewers and prompts them to continue viewing or looking for more information. In addition to gaining consumers attention, the use of sensational language by the media also helps stories go viral. Through the creation of emotional response
A good part of Outfoxed focuses on the company's blurring of news and commentary, how anchormen and reporters are encouraged to repeatedly use catch-phrases like "some people say..." as a means of editorializing within a supposedly objective news story; how graphics, speculation and false information are repeated over-and-over throughout the broadcast day until it appears to become fact, and in doing so spreads like a virus and copied on other networks. A PIPA/Knowledge Networks Poll points to glaring, fundamental misconceptions about the news perpetuated upon Fox viewers, versus information received from widely respected news-gathering organizations like NPR and PBS. Asked, for instance, "Has the U.S. found links between Iraq & al-Qaeda?" only 16% of PBS and NPR viewers answered "yes," but a frightening 67% of Fox viewers believed there had.

September 11, 2001 marked one of the most tragic events in United States history. As a way to assure the safety and wellbeing of U.S. citizens shortly after being attacked by al-Qaeda, President Bush stated, “Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts may shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve”. Although President Bush was seen a source of security during a time of need, many citizens felt that his words were not genuine and part of a dramatic story the government wanted its people to believe. Despite the side taken, both perspectives of the argument can agree that the U.S. was attacked by a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda. On that Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and the fourth into a field in rural Pennsylvania after passengers fought back against the terrorist to try and regain control of the plane. This is the story the government wants its people to believe. However, the truths about the attacks on 9/11 are much more frightening. On September 11th, 2001, the United States government betrayed its citizens by allowing the destructive attacks on the Twin Towers, WTC-7, the Pentagon, and Shanksville.

Conspiracy theories are created in almost every serious accident to date, and some of them could be true. The illuminati could be behind most conspiracy theories due to the fact that they are mentioned in most of the conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories vary from tragic accidents, assassinations, and aliens in America. Tragic accidents such as 9/11 and the Sandy Hook shooting are big theories.
The events of 9/11 rattled America and demonstrated the need for a revision in the workings of the United States Intelligence Community. Many Americans, particularly those with left-wing political beliefs, view the new laws and resolutions in national security to be a fitting response considering 2,605 citizens died and 6,294 were hospitalized for related injuries. To prevent a tragedy so deadly from repeating, the NSA needs to advance its approach to the twenty-first century accordingly. Since terrorists communicate largely via cell-phones and the internet, the NSA having access to our phone records is only logical. By law, the NSA can only examine the numbers dialed and the length of the call, needing a warrant from a judge to eavesdrop on

Flight 370 was an international passenger flight that went missing on March 8, 2014. The flight was scheduled in route to Beijing, but it went missing throughout the second day after the plane took off from Kuala National Airport. At approximately 1:21 p.m., the communications and transponder signal were functioning no longer. There were no emergency calls at the time the plane had its last checkpoint. On March 24 at approximately 10p.m.Malaysia Standard Time, officials ceased the search as radio signals picked up debris found throughout a remote Indian Ocean. It is believed that all of the 239 passengers on the plane died (Preimesberger). From protests and outcries, to mourning and fallouts, it is still a distraught event that shocked the world.
But what motivated the media to cover this story? The media is most likely going to focus on stories that are unique, sensational, extreme, and those that impact the greatest number of people (Understanding how the media reports crime pdf.). This event was rare, extreme and, at the time, there had not been an event like this in our country. It was shocking. The visual images from CNN’s coverage also drove the point home in how rare and shocking this event was.
CNN, a popular news outlet in the United States began to covered the event. CNN is not the most reliable news source because they tend to be less facts and more on opinions by the reporters and guests and over reporters who cover big tragic events. Over covering means that one event is only shown on television and not many other major events that are happening at the same time. CNN was considered more of an entertainment news especially when covering flight 370. CNN reporters make up outragoues stories, even stories on how flight 370 disappeared by a possible black hole. CNN is just pandering this flight 370 story for the advertisers and it earned high ratings by gloryfing dead
