I watched American Sniper which was about a man going through war, love, friendship, and life. Also, the movie deals with him, PTSD, and wanting to constantly go back to war despite family issues. This film involves the use of photography, movement, drama, and sound. The shots vary from full-shot, close-ups, medium shots, and deep-focus shots throughout the movie (Giannetti 9). I like how many different shots they used throughout the movie because close-ups of Bradley Cooper looking through the scope of the sniper rifle shows the concentration and dedication he has for defending his country. Furthermore, it shows his straight, serious face through the lens of the camera. By using different photography shots, this exposes his emotions, facial expressions, and feelings. This movie integrates drama, sound, photography, and movement. There is a lot of drama in this movie because Dorothy is on a journey to return home. Thus, she encounters scary new people like the Scarecrow and the witch. The sound in this movie is a lot of musical numbers like when Dorothy discovers she must follow the yellow brick road. She sings, “You’re off to see the wizard, follow the yellow brick road.” The musical numbers make the movie more engaging and interesting to watch for the viewers. One of the things I loved about The Wizard of Oz is there are tons of different shots used like full-shots, medium shots, close-ups, and deep-focus shots. Different shots in this movie reveal different meanings, feelings, and emotions. The movement in this movie involves a lot of dancing and skipping due to the large amount of musical numbers. Therefore, the movement is lyrical, precise, and beautiful to watch because the movements are graceful and show Dorothy’s happiness.
