The movie “You, John Jones”, was a film that was made in 1943. This film was about a man named John Jones who was an employee of an American aircraft factory. He was out on duty, and was remincising about all the things that he was missing at home. He was upset that he was in a completely different place than his wife and daughter were, and had no way of actually even contacting them. But at the same time of him being so upset with missing his wife, he is also filled with joy to know that there is no way that his family will be hurt physically from this war. I had a bit of a hard time trying to find out why James Cagney was chosen for them film. What I did find however, was on the IMDb website about basically all of his trademarks, and everything he was successful for, which was a lot. Cagney had stared in played in several major, and small roles throughout his whole entire career. IMDb states that his specific trademarks were, “Diminutive but nimble frame, unmistakable rapid-fire speaking voice, wise-cracking New Yorker persona, and compelling intensity” (IMDb.com). They also state that, “Famous for his gangster roles he played in the 1930s and 1940s (which made his only Oscar win as the musical composer/dancer/actor George M.Cohan most ironic).” (IMDb.com). I think that this is a very important trademark, because it goes to show that Cagney was at his peak and very successful throughout the 1930s and the 1940s. With that being said, Cagney was the lead role in “You, John Jones!”, which was produced in 1943. James Cagney had to of been doing very well in all of the other things he was starring in, as well as winning his only Oscar during that time to be the best candidate for this
