Sociology is the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society. This can relate to Figueroa’s framework which is an analysis of racism within society, particularly to look at how equity and access to society’s resources are affected by a person’s race. This framework can furthermore be practical to other features of sociology, including equity and access in sport. This multimodal presentation is to show you the use of Figueroa’s framework in society. The individual level of Figueroa’s framework is involved with our own attitudes, values and beliefs, particularly those related to stereotypes and prejudices. This level heartens us to think judgmentally about our own perceptions of exercise, sport and physical activity. A complex range of factors interact to influence our participation at the individual level of involvement in sport and physical activity.
