Picture this, it was about twelve o’clock in the afternoon when my brother and I went outside to play. We decided it would be cool to build a cool tree house in our front yard. So, we went to work right away. We grabbed a 2 by 4 with me on one side and him on the other, carrying it above our heads to the fort to be. Tyler happened to let his side down and me, not being strong enough at all, let the piece of wood slip out of my hands and it landed dead center on my head. My mom came running outside to my crying as I passed out. Even though Tyler didn’t support me in this situation, he does now. With him supporting me, being the strongest person I know, and him always being there for me has made me who I am today. Without him, I don’t know where I’d be. Tyler, you support me in everything I do even if it’s not the best decision. It’s like, if I’m in it, you’re in it with me. The biggest decision I made recently was a hard one, and you know …show more content…
We haven’t had the best childhood and I think that’s what makes you stronger. You’ve always carried yourself in a strong way and never let anyone in, except for me. You’ve overcome many obstacles in life and some of them I have gone through with you. We’ve gone through things many kids our age can’t even fathom. Yes, you’ve had your break downs, but so have I. You’ve taught me it was okay to cry, and that we don’t need anyone else but each other. You’ve been kicked out, yelled at, and pushed away by so many people but yet you continue to make the best of any given situation. You never let anyone knock you down, and if you did, you’d come right back up swinging ready to fight. I always looked up to you when you were in high school. People bullied me a lot and you always told me to not care what people think because it doesn’t matter. The advice you gave me always made me stronger and I’m grateful for that. You’ve always been there for me and always will
I also don't own the idea, it was requested to me by the wonderful Amanda. Thank you so much! I hope I did this idea justice.
Did I just do that? Did I just stop juror three? I can’t believe it; how did I have the nerve to do that? oh no he is going to hit me I’m sure of it. However I really liked it when I stopped him and taking charge, like I didn't know what i was doing. I rose up to the occasion and and just did it. So this is what bravery feels like I kind of liked it but I don’t think I will experiencing that feeling again any time soon. But sweet mother of jesus!! Look at his face juror three is so pissed like his face is as red as a tomato I hope he will calm down or something might happen like; I actually thought he was about to attack juror eight he was shouting and yelling at him. Good thing I wasn’t the one that started the fight with him or I would have been knocked out faster than anything.
This book is written by author GARY D. SCHMIDT. That one would be one of the greatest book I have ever read. It tells us about Doug Swieteck who is a main character, his family, and the environment around him. There are some very funny and light parts in that. On the other hand, there are also some very sad and serious parts like tragedy. But I choose first one of two choices that I would call Okay for now a hopeful book. Because there is some reason to call the book a hopeful one more than would call a hopeless one in the book. I am going to give you some example of light and funny parts.
In loving you, I am slowly learning to love myself, something that has never happened before. I’m always so happy around you, my heart doesn’t feel heavy in your presence. My walls are completely down for you, being so vulnerable is a scary thought, though I know I can fully trust you to be there for me. In the past, I have given pieces of myself to people who did not deserve them, my heart to people who used me, looking for love in shallow places. From the moment I met you, I knew you were different. I could tell that you were a soft and sweet boy that wasn’t only with me for what I could do for you. You showed me that love can be pure and untainted with good intentions. I know I’m not the best girl in the world, but I’m always trying to be the best girl for you, doing my best to make you happy in the small things. My bed has never felt empty with just me in it before, though now when I sleep alone, it feels as though you should be next to me. I crave your warmth. There is no better way to wake up, than to wake up to your sleeping face, the handsome lines and curves of your skin that create the
Maybe I'm just oblivious but hear me out. I put my music on shuffle while studying and the song "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio came on. Of course I didn't change it because it's Coolio and I happen to like that song. However, since I don't consider myself a die hard Coolio fan, I never really take the time to actually LISTEN to what he's saying. This time I did and lo and behold, He was explaining the struggles of growing up in a gang and mentioning things we talked about in History Through Film in his song! With my newfound knowledge of gangs I looked up the lyrics only to find that I understood what he was talking about. He mentioned gangs destroying themselves, the importance of turf, kids looking up to gangs, and even how
“I had to know what Tyler was doing while I was asleep. If I could wake up in a different place, at a different time, could I wake up as a different person?” (Palahniuk 32). When Tyler is in action, narrator is not contemporaneous in a sense that he is Tyler now. Tyler is someone who doesn’t give any importance to money-oriented world but he indeed believes in the willpower of constructing a classless society. The narrator is insomniac, depressed, and stuck with unexciting job. Chuck’s prominent, pessimistic, radical work, Fight Club, investigates inner self deeper and deeper into personality, identity, and temperament as a chapter goes by. Through his writing, Chuck Palahniuk comments on the inner conflicts, the psychoanalysis of narrator and Tyler Durden, and the Marxist impression of classicism. By not giving any name to a narrator, author wants readers to engage in the novel and associate oneself with the storyline of narrator. The primary subject and focus of the novel, Fight Club, is to comment socially on the seizing of manhood in the simultaneous world. This novel is, collectively, a male representation where only a single woman, Marla Singer, is exemplified. “Tyler said, “I want you to hit me as hard as you can” (46). This phrase is a mere representation of how to start a manly fight club. However, in the novel this scene is written as if two people are physically fighting and splashing blood all over the parking lot, in reality it’s just an initiation of fight club which resides in narrator’s inner self. The concept of this club is that the more one fights, the more one gets sturdier and tougher. It is also a place where one gets to confront his weaknesses and inner deterioration.
Fight Club is a novel written by Chuck Palahniuk. This is a story about a protagonist who struggles with insomnia. An anonymous character suffering from recurring insomnia due to the stress brought about by his job is introduced to the reader. He visits a doctor who later sends him to visit a support group for testicular cancer victims, and this helps him in alleviating his insomnia. However, his insomnia returns after he meets Marla Singer. Later on, the narrator meets Tyler Durden, and they together establish a fight club. They continue fighting until they attract crowds of people interested in the fight club. Fight club is a story that shows the struggles between the upper class and lower class people. The upper class people here undermine the working class people by considering them as cockroaches. In addition, Palahniuk explores the theme of destruction throughout the book whereby the characters destroy their lives, body, building and the history of their town.
Then one day, little did I know my life was going to change. There was one person in particular that I had talked to on few occasions over the time-frame of about nine months. We finally agreed to meet and it want amazingly. One of the things that he told me that night was, “I’m gonna take care of you.” It was not meant to be this dramatic, time-stopping moment but it was. The perfect song to describe it is the song “Take Care” by Drake and Rihanna. The chorus of the song is, “I know you’ve been hurt by someone else. I can tell by the way you carry yourself. If you love me, here’s what I’ll do: I’ll take care of you.” We both have been hurt multiple times and have gone through multiple trials throughout life. Because of challenges we have faced, we are both stronger people and it makes our relationship stronger than
“Hahaha you can’t catch me oscar” as I run full speed looking back at my brother run. “Wait don’t look at me look straight” said Oscar, BAM! “Ooooooow I think I broke something” “hang on i’ll go get some bandages as oscar runs home. “Man this fool just left me” “hey you are you alright” said the girl walking right in front of me, “I been worst” “haha ok” said the girl “ so uh I’m Jeff i’m a bounty hunter for red.” I’m angel the princess of blue” “hold up did you say blue we can’t talk to each other if you're blue” I know are kind don’t get along but never mind well i can’t help you because if I do i’ll be executed to death” the princess said looking sad. “Brother! brother! i’m back who is this?” Said oscar “she a princess for…” “i’m a princess for leaving bye” as she runs away.
I have you, my friends. You who look out for me, yet allow me to be myself. Eat cheesecake, drink a beer, run barefoot through the grass—and enjoy it! I know that my life could be much worse. We all know that. Thank you for listening to me bitch about my world. I’ve needed to for a long time. Now let me return to being one of you. After all, I’m just another classmate, another student, another stranger on the street.
When we first meet the main character, only identified as "Jack", he has a gun to his head battling his split personality, Tyler Durdan. He then takes you back many months so you can know how it is he came to that state. Jack is a 30 year old single white male complaining of insomnia for over 6 months. His job as a liability consultant for an automotive company requires him to take frequent trips to different time zones, usually on a short notice, therefore leaving him jet lagged. This issue has endured for at least six months. He states he is in "pain" and wants something to just make him sleep. Jack states that on several occasions he has woken up in strange places and does not know how or when he got there. He realized that having blackouts (not due to substance abuse or general medical condition) was disturbing and unusual behavior. The doctor he visited dismisses his claims and suggests he attend a support group for cancer to witness "real" pain. An image of his alter-ego briefly appears at that moment. Due to his job, Jack does not have any immediate friends or family. He refers to the passengers on the planes as his "single serving friend." Jack begins attending a variety of support groups for ailments that he does not have in order to do something during his bouts of insomnia. After the first few meetings, Jack's insomnia seemed to elapse and he uses the meetings as his sleeping pill. His recovery is short lived due to another fake "survivor", Marla Singer. Her presence in his groups threatened his sleep because she knows that he is faking.
Though Sue had more of a negative impact in Thao’s life, using cinematography and character dialogue she brings a positive change into Walt’s life by helping him to realize not all young people are bad beings like his grandkids seem to be. Walt views the younger generations as selfish, only focused on themselves, and uncaring about others because that is exactly how each of his grandchildren act towards him. This view is reinforced in the scene “Inevitable Disappointment,” when Walt catches his granddaughter Ashley in the garage smoking a cigarette. She walks up to him asks, “So what are you going to do with it when you, like, die?” (Gran Torino) in reference to Walt’s most prized possession the Gran Torino.
Philosophy can be found everywhere. Like math, it is used to solve problems, or at least used to begin to understand those problems. Most individuals expect to heighten their philosophical knowledge through readings or by reading a professors notes. One may even consult their own mind to help them grasp a concept of a philosophy. Attainting philosophical guidance by the sources above is common yet it is also quite common to see philosophical themes in movies and novels. A movie with a philosophical message is “Fight Club”. The movie “Fight Club” examines an idealistic question known as “What is Real?” though the main character. The movie examines three idealistic statements: One cannot trust appearances to determine what is real, one sees and feels only what their subconscious mind allows them to see and feel, and finally, ones mind determines what is personally real.
I know that I start things between us a lot of the time, but even you know why. You know that it took a lot for me to trust you, but now I do. I am so happy that you are still here with me, being patient, and still by my side. So many people say that I will not make it far in life, but they do not understand me, let alone know me. So many of those people do not know how hard you push me to make something of myself. In the past, I honestly believed that I would not make it anywhere, but now I know that as long as I am happy and still alive, with you by my side I am doing great and can achieve anything.
