FIGHT CLUB: DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER 2 Fight club is a drama that is based on the novel “Fight Club.” There are two main characters, the narrator and a character named Tyler Durden. The narrator doesn’t have a name and is played by Edward Norton. The character Tyler Durden is played by Brad Pitt and is suppose to be who the narrator wants to be. The movie is about a man who has insomnia and is trying to find a way to help him sleep. When he visits the doctor, the doctor tells him that he isn’t suffering my insomnia and he should visit a support group. Tyler Durden has this laid back and cool personality that the narrator wants. Later in the movie, Tyler Durden suddenly disappears and the narrator begins looking for him. We can label this has the narrator experiencing an amnesic boundary. He goes around the country looking for Tyler, while the whole time he is acting as Tyler.
Next, during the movie there are scenes where the narrator experiences amnesia and switching. One scene in particular which describes this the best would be the one when he slept with Marla. Marla talks to the narrator about what happened last night and he becomes disgusted. Thinking it was Tyler who slept with Marla and not him, here he experiences switching and amnesia. Clinical hypnosis would help the narrator by accessing this memories hidden deep within his mind. Another thing it can help him with his control his problems, like his anger. Also by mixing the two treatments, the period where the two alters fuse will be a lot easier. I feel the narrator could improve a lot in time if he sticks with the treatments. Also, not abusing any drugs before hand helps a lot, since we will not need to waste any time weaning him off the
