To most people, the most prominent thing to them is their own life, and when that is put in jeopardy, fear is implanted in the mind and body. This human reaction is exactly what Adolf Hitler used to garner power during the Holocaust, Isis during the attacks on France, and Al Qaeda during the terrorist attacks in 2001. Three ways that terrorism can be used to elicit fear to gain power in the world are through attacks, words, and through the brainwashing of younger generations.

Words are powerful, and can have momentous effects on the actions of people. “It is our words that provide a bold affirmation of our innermost thoughts. They are a confirmation to the world of how we see others, our lives and ourselves” (Hurst 1). Terrorism is not only accomplished through actions, but also by words. For example, Hitler persuaded the entire country of Germany to do something that was wrong by simply speaking it into existence. He pronounced everything so confidently that no one even considered that what he was saying may not be right. By doing this, all of the young kids in an area will believe that what these terrorists are doing is right and is there only option when it comes to what they are doing in adulthood. “With ISIS it's a soft sell at the beginning, what we call a ‘grooming seduction period’, where there's love bombing and flattery, and it's, ‘What can we do for you?’ But once they get their hooks into you, they'll threaten their lives, they'll threaten to kill their families, and if you ever leave, ‘We will kill you, and we'll track down your family and kill them too’” (Clements 1).
