Has fear ever caused you to do something other than normal? The definition of fear is “an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat” (google dictionary). When we are afraid, or scared, we react differently, whether or not the fear is actually real. Fear affects our decisions, reactions, and is behind all superstitions. Fear makes us do things we wouldn’t normally do. The definition of decision is “A conclusion or resolution reached after consideration” (google dictionary). When not overcome by fear, decisions are normally thought through carefully, and acted upon after a while. When fear becomes a part of the equation, our decisions are made quickly, and carelessly. An example of a time when fear got in the way of a good decision was in “The Hot Zone”. It says that they “noticed with some concern that the monkey workers around the building were not wearing respirators” (211) even though they were instructed to.
