I have been asked by my friends to choose either between the flawless beauty and intelligent knowledge. At first glance, this question is seemingly too obvious to answer that everybody would choose the flawless beauty, but looking more deeply into our generation today, I would choose the intelligent knowledge. Why? First, and foremost, I grew up in a family where everybody values knowledge, which helps me triumph over every obstacle, rather than my immaterial appearance. And that concept somehow imbedded in my mind. According to Beverly Hills Physicians, most patients feel satisfied and enjoy a boost in self-esteem and self-satisfaction (Newswire Association 1). I disagree with this statement because the cosmetic surgery has more sophisticated aspects than people might think. As a young adult, I positively posit that cosmetic surgery has its fatal risks, doesn’t really improve self-esteem, and the media falsely influences young people to undergo cosmetic surgery. I bet that everybody already knows the story of famous actress Dolly Parton, who had admitted to undergo multiple cosmetic surgical procedures, such as breast implants, facelift, brow lift, eyelid surgery, and chin augmentation. We all know that this woman underwent countless surgeries because of her career in the entertaining industry, and in this career, every actress needs to have a perfect complexion. This story has got me thinking what really motivates her to perform this surgery multiple times. Some famous actresses choose to undergo the surgical procedure multiple times to keep their eternal youth as they grow up, but they don’t fully realize that the aging process is unstoppable, and if we try to stop it forcefully the result would turn out catastrophic. To be clear, the desire for more surgical procedure signals the underlying mental illness. Perhaps, the obsessive desire leads to the Body Dysmorphic Disorder, known as BDD, is a chronic mental illness to can lead to cosmetic surgery addition (Body Dysmorphic Disorder para. 2). In this specific illness, happiness is thought to be linked to the appearance and beauty.
