Hair, bell bottoms, high shoes, big collars, and the best of all, bright colors. These things were the reason for an epic, and yet, brilliant breakthrough in fashion. Fashion in the 1970s was very important because it gave people the liberty to express themselves however they pleased.
In the 1970s people wore their hair frizzy, long, layered, or even a buzz. For instance, the afro was frizzy and looked like a big ball. It was first known to be an African-American hairstyle but became popular among all ethnicities. It was created by growing your hair out and braiding it to get the frizzy texture. After the Jackson Five popularized the afro, years later Beyoncé’s debut in the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember gave life to the afro. A popular men’s look was the long and luscious. It was a hairstyle that had long layers. It could be done with anti-freeze serum. One thing you never wanted to do was use a blow dryer.
