PINNED IN TIME One, Two, Three One! David Penzer, a long time ring announcer and Barry Rose, a wrestling historian put together the most captivating "Fan Fest" I have ever experienced. CWF Legend Fanfest -The Assassin Returns To Tampa, FL. Held on June 3, 2017. It started like any ordinary "Fan Fest," but after the first count, you could feel the difference. No massive crowds. Following the Fanfest portion, there was an exclusive cocktail party that limited the number of fans. Imagine being a fan, grabbing your favorite cash bar beverage. Nibbling on complimentary hors d'oeuvres while navigating through the room. Could it get any better? Yes! 90- minutes to mingle with The Assassin (Jody Hamilton), his son, Nick Patrick, who was a longtime referee for WCW, and WWF. Wrestlers Steve Keirn, Bugsy McGraw, Fidel Sierra (The Cuban Assassin), Ricky "Gladiator" Hunter, Lady/Mad Maxine, Downtown Denny Brown, Referee Frank Reyes and Scott McGee. Professional wrestlers jolted the crowd. As each one came through the door, you could hear random voices exclaim. Wow! I just saw so and so. You could feel the excitement. Almost like going back in time, waiting for the next wrestler to make his way to the ring. Bob Cook, known for one of the best punches in the business. Ray Lloyd "Glacier," The Southern Posse "Rick Thames and Sonny Trout joined the action. The Fanfest cocktail party ended with a celebration to honor Eddie Graham and "Cowboy" Luttrall. The rugged pioneers of Championship Wrestling from Florida, who demanded a strict code of doing things right. Both of their families were in attendance to receive special commendations from Hillsborough County, Florida. CWF Legend Jerry Brisco presented Referee Stu Swartz, and female wrestlers Bonnie Watson and Sherri Lee, with their CWF Hall of Fame Awards. Thirty fans garnered a rare opportunity to have a catered dinner with The Assassin, Nick Patrick, Fidel Sierra and Bugsy McGraw. Nothing was off limits during the opportunity to converse with them over the meal. Tough questions hurled and they answered. The Assassin shared many memories about his wrestling career. The top of his list was the Madison Square Garden show making Jody, age 19 at the time, the youngest man to ever co-star in a sold- out wrestling event at the Madison Square Garden. A record Jody still holds today. Speaking with Jody privately, and watching him interact with fans brought back visible emotions for all. Jody sat with that unforgettable gold and black mask, perfectly laced behind his head. Recalling memories of matches held all over the United States. Fans waiting with duplicate masks clutched in their hands excited about a one on one moment with the beloved Assassin.
