Remember The Name
There are many people to remember in history, they most of the time deserve it and sometimes they don’t. there are many from Illinois like Abraham Lincoln. some of the famous people are more modern like Walt Disney, Nelly, Danielle Campbell. Walt Disney maybe dead but his creations are very alive unlike Danielle Campbell other cast members. Nelly being a singer with his hard life. Mary Ann Bickerdyke a women that helped in the Civil War Lincoln along with her. These are amazing people that are rememered in todays society.
Lincoln-Election
Lincoln was up for election in the year 1858 (Root 1). becoming a president takes a long time even now. He was up against Douglas. Many debates were involved and many speeches as well (Root 1). These events were made to persuade the audience why the candidate should be president (Root 1).
Lincoln-Speech, Debates, and Monmouth
To get the votes, Lincoln went to Monmouth Illinois to meet historians and many citizens
(Root 1). While he was in Monmouth he made a speech afterwards he went to the William Lafery house (Root 1). After that, he was done in Monmouth and meet Douglas at the railroad. Now that he is done in Monmouth, he is off to the 6th debate of the Lincoln-Douglas series. Even though Lincoln lost the debate he has a special place in the historical records (Root 1).

Many famous people were from Illinios some are not famous for the right reasons; but most are amazing citizens that do good for the community. Nelly made a carity, Mary worked at hospitals, Lincoln was our president. Some are famous for intertainment and for laughs like Walt Disney and Danielle Campbell. They are all amazing people that deserve to be remebered.

The Lincoln-Douglas debates were part of a larger campaign to achieve political adjectives from the two. Lincoln was running for Douglas’ seat in the senate as a republican. Douglas had been a member of congress since 1843, a national figure for the Democratic Party, who was running for re-election. The debates attracted national attentions, mostly due to Douglas’ persona. Lincoln took advantage and made a name for himself as a prominent contender in national politics. At the time, the Democratic Party was going through a sectional riff, at the time of the debates. Douglas had recently gone against president Buchanan and the southern democrats when he apposed the admission of Kansas as a slave state. Douglass was against the Lecompton constitution; the stand was popular among republicans. The outcome, would have maintained the unity between the Nor and south sections of the Democratic Party. Buchanan, along with the southern democrats, were in favor of Lincolns candidacy, they feared Douglas’ going interest, and for his lack of support to the Democratic leaders. With Douglas receiving support from republicans, Lincoln would have to keep Illinois republicans from supporting Douglas. Lincoln would use the morality of slavery to wedge support away from Douglas’ famous popular sovereignty, while winning support of abolitionist. In American history, there are numerous people who stand out more and are emphasize more than other in history of our country. One man, John Hancock, is one of those astonishing men that stand out.
The portrait of a bearded man is from 150-175a.d. It is from the Antoine Period (138-192a.d.). The portrait is realistic to me because it is a sculpture of someone. My impressions on this are that his beard is kind of wavy. His hose has a piece missing or is just damaged real bad. He is made out of marble. His face looks like he is mad or something, real intense. It also looks like it had cuts in his forehead and part of his eye. His hair looks like a pile of whip cream.
Canton is rich in history and was home to many people that influenced our society, such as Frederick C Hibbard (a master sculptor of the late 1800s- mid 1900s) and Eleanora Tate (a wonderful African-American writer). However, amidst the prolific and interesting history of Canton, are stories of dread, terror, and pain. Ghosts seem to haunt every corner of the town and the adjoined college, Culver-Stockton.
How well known people are effects how influential you are, and while these 2 characters from history are not as influential as LeBron James and trending pop stars are in their time, they’ve used their influential abilities in positive ways that affect everyone today. Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr. are both amazing leaders of the suffrage and civil rights movements. Anthony with Women’s rights, and King with African American’s rights took Civil Rights as a whole a few great leaps forward; brought forth an era where the Civil Rights Movement is something almost everyone believes in, that equal rights should be something everyone has. In these great leaps forward, King and Anthony have used their influential abilities to help start, carry on, and pass on a legacy. This is a legacy that is the idea or thought that everyone is equal.
Our nation had many great people who have changed our nation’s fate throughout the history. These people may not be remembered but have changed our nation’s direction. People like John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, George Washington, and etc. were remembered. But a person like John Hancock, about 1/300 of the population of Unites States of America knows about him. Even though he is not remembered, John Hancock is one of the most extraordinary people who have change the fate of our nation.
The Lincoln-Douglas Debates of 1858 was a very influential event that occurred in American history and has much significance, even till this day. The debates were in contest for the United States Senate seat in Illinois. The main topic involved in the debates was based around slavery and the separation of the union because of it. Both Lincoln and Douglas refer to the U.S. Constitution in their remarks and state different opinions surrounding what they interpret the meaning of certain parts regarding slavery to be.
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected as president in the United State. But, the United States had been divided in the 1850s, due to the question about expansion of slavery and the rights of the slave owner. The issue of slavery had heated the nation to the boiling point. Fourth Months later, after Abraham presidential election, the seven states in the deep southern part of the United States, like South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia. Louisiana, and Texas, had seceded and seized many federal facilities. Although President Lincoln is the president of the United State, he still had no official powers to do anything about the Southern forming a new nation. On April 15, Lincoln called 75,000 volunteers to put down the Southern rebellion, and to reverse the seven states to vote in favor of session. After the nation drifted toward conclusion, Abraham Lincoln traveled all over the North, so he can make campaign speeches for the Republicans party. Abram Lincoln used his influence, as the leader of the Republican Party, by reaching out to the political leader of the Republican party, writing privately letters, demanded that the Republican party needs to hold firm to its opposition to the extension of slavery and to also reassure the southern that the Republicans composed no threats. Overall, Lincoln is a comprehensive study of Abraham Lincoln’s life and is a factual goldmine. Donald’s omission of summarizing paragraphs and lack of conclusion make understanding the larger picture hard if the reader is unfamiliar with the story of Abraham Lincoln, so this book is best-suited to researchers and history buffs. Even though Donald’s thesis was ill-supported, the value of his book did not lie with the argument, but with the sheer amount of information contained within the pages, making the thesis the lesser focus of the work.
In conclusion, Lou Gehrig was and will always be an American hero to many people. His ability to play 2,130 consecutive games (“Great Athletes” 11) with many broken bones and other injuries is a feat that only a few will be able to accomplish. Not to mention the many awards and records the Iron horse has set and achieved. The people that had the opportunity to watch him play are very lucky. Not many players like Lou Heinrich Gehrig AKA the Iron Horse come along often.
In 1858 Lincoln ran against Douglas in a series of debates for the Senator’s position. Although Lincoln lost, these debates won him the nomination of 1860. His greatest accomplishments were to come much later. & nbsp; When Lincoln was inaugurated in 1861, he made it perfectly clear that the secession of the South was unconstitutional.
Abraham Lincoln was an intricate yet prosperous person, shown through his movement from poverty to politics. Lincoln was born to poverty in Kentucky in 1809 and settled in Illinois at the age fifteen. He was captain of the militia in Illinois during the Black Hawk War of 1832 and served four terms as a Whig in the state legislature and in Congress, from 1847 to 1849. Lincoln strayed away from politics for a little while to return to law but his interest rekindled as a result of the Kansas-Nebraska Act .
Abraham Lincoln was vital to the outcome of the Civil War. Lincoln was born in 1809. Lincoln’s whole family were opposed to slavery considering it cruel and evil. Lincoln’s mother died when he was young. Even though his family were poor, Lincoln had a strong a memorable childhood. Lincoln loved to learn and read, and soon became extremely intelligent. As he physically grew, he also grew in character and soon became a fine young man. Following a friend’s advice, Lincoln decided to run for state office. Even though he lost the election, he learned many things about the country he loved, and in 1861 Abraham Lincoln became one of the most famous presidents of the United States of America.
