There are many types of family that exists in today’s society, each important to the upbringing of any children of which may be apart of it. Whether due to economic changes, cultural values, the role of caregiver goes beyond mother and father (Kurrien & Dawn Vo, 2004). The family unit is as diverse as the societies they each represent. This sometimes can manifest traditional roles of doting mothers and providing fathers into a home with two sets of parents (Kurrien & Dawn Vo, 2004).
The Census Bureau also reported that 55% of women who gave birth between July 1999 and July 2000 returned to the labor force within a year of having their babies. This means that most mothers do not end up at home like old times. They are choosing there own economic safety over there child’s well being. They still have time with there children just while they are at work they just like to forget where there children are. One of the issues that parents are dealing with is money.
There are many different types of families that are born in our society. All different that have many ways of showing the supporting and caring, for a stable family structure. The family structure affects the behavior of parents in different ways. There are three types of families the nuclear, single-parent, and grandparent. Firstly, the nuclear family is when both parents and children are living in one house considered traditional.
However, this two-parent, nuclear family has become less prevalent, and alternative family forms have become more common. With that being said, the most successful and most efficient way to raise up a family is within the nuclear family structure. In a nuclear family, one has two parents who work together to produce one unit. The nuclear family is the traditional type of family structure. This family structure consists of two parents and children.
Although they have had a lot of trouble in finding jobs for these young mothers because they only have a high school diploma they always manage to find something. They try to help these young mothers who don’t still live with their parents find an apartment. After welfare has helped them find work they do not stop helping then. They continue giving money and other needs for a mother and her child. “Welfare helps with child care to 60% of American families with children, which proves how many single parent families we have.”(Bergman et al) The United States Government provides healthcare for a mother and her child before and after her baby has arrived.
Siblings are the first social intimate relationship that one can have on a daily basis. Most of the time, family relationships are more dependable and long lasting than any other type of relationships. Brothers and sisters are the best moral support one can have during all of their life. Older siblings will always take care of their younger ones, if not at home, they will make sure they are treated well at school for instance. Children sometimes feel less boredom during early childhood when they have brothers and sisters.
Children that are provided with these types of opportunities are more likely do better academically and sociall... ... middle of paper ... ... few decades. Families have been reshaped by high rates of teenage pregnancy, sharp increases in the divorce rate, same sex couples having children, grandparents raising their kid’s children, single-parent families, nuclear families, military families, immigrant families and adoptive or foster families. Yet as families have changed, their functions have not. The diverse ethnic and cultural families are what compose the vast majority of the United States. Each family's unique traditions and teachings blend together to build the very foundation upon which we, as a whole, have grown and will continue to grow.
Therefore, a child can take advantage and fulfill whatever goals he/she chases after in life. Another aspect of parental involvement is a child’s emotional development. This results in parents spending time and sharing a positive relationship with a child. It’s the effort of building a person’s character and preventing him/her from being depressed or lacked of social skills. A survey article published in the Fact Sheet, done by Jennifer Baxter shows a high percentage of kids enjoyed spending time and telling daily stories for their parents (Baxter 102).
Equal sharing in both child rearing and domestic work is the best thing couples can do in their family. Children at home are such a joy and happiness. They need both the mother and the father to take care of them. I think the parents should have the same feelings. It is so important for fathers to spend more time with their children, to know what they like and dislike.
Therefore, they don’t find it difficult to adapt to any other new culture but will feel accommodated in other people’s culture. In conclusion, a family will always remain to be the core agent for socialization and a lot of effort is needed in order to impact the right personality or character traits in the children in a family. This will help in shaping the future of the child as well as the community they live in. References Bourne, P. (2006). Socialization: The Role of Family, School & Political Inst.
