• The most common family form would be nuclear family and extended families because Mexicans have a strong family connection
• Since, Mexican families have such strong connections any celebration brings them closers together as one. For example; Weddings
• Mothers in Mexican families are the ones who tie the whole family together. They are responsible for cooking, cleaning and caring for children.
• The Father is the main authority figure in the family (they took care of financial needs). Also, they control and make family decisions.

Monday to Friday Mexican children and teens attend their compulsory courses and on Saturday they have their electives.
• School life in Mexico starts at an early age, children typically start school at the age of 3 or 4.
• The education in public school to grade 9 is free but after one must pay for themselves.
• In Mexico all of the classes are conducted in Spanish however large city families can chooses to send their children to English speaking private school.

• During the incorporation stage the young girl receives a higher status and is accepted by her community , friends and family
• If the girl is Catholic the ceremony begins with a thanksgiving mass. The Thanksgiving mass is to give thanks to the girls’ completed childhood.
• Then the teen is seated at the altar and her godparents gift the girl with jewelry to match her dress. With the girl, there are her maid of honors and escorts who are usually siblings or relatives. The maid or honors and escorts are categorized by age to represent all the years that the teen has completed. The young woman leaves a bouquet of flowers in front of the Virgin of Guadalupe as the mass is completed. In some area of the southwest, particularly in the city of Los Angeles, celebrations of regional mexican dancing and music are held. However, regardless of the area of celebration, one could almost certainly find mariachi band filled restaurants, outdoor festivities, and social gathering with large amounts of Dos Equis and Corona beer for the adults.
I not only had the influences of the Mexican culture, I was able to experience the good old fashioned American family values as well. My mother was the heart of the family. She was the one who cooked, cleaned and cared for her children full time. My father was generally the one in charge and took care of many of the decision making scenarios.
When it comes to raising children, the culture is somewhat different than that of Americans. Infants are typically nursed until the age of two or three or until an older sibling is born. Around the age of four or five the children are required to begin helping around the house. They do things such as help with younger siblings, run errands, and do small chores here and there. The young boys of the family are typically allowed to do some exploring as well as helping with fishing and gathering. All children attend school and go from grade one to grade eight. They normally are taught reading, English, and arithmetic. If a student is very advanced they have the opportunity to take a test to find out if they are able to go to high school in Majuro.
Child rearing and family structure within the Hispanic culture is noticeably different than what is present in the mainstream Western culture of today. One apparent difference is in gender roles. There exists a vastly different expectation in Hispanic culture for males and females. The male is considered to be the independent breadwinner, and the head of the household. Accordingly, the female role is one of submission and provider of childcare. In contrast, it is more than acceptable in Western culture for a female to maintain a non-traditional role. The girl must see a value in the ritual that is being presented to them, gaining maturity and the “rite of passage”. It is evident that families tend to keep these traditions due to the majority of the culture but also because they tend to shape their daughters into “women” stage right away without noticing. “It made me feel so special. In a tradition Nepali family, the male is considered the head and is responsible for family decisions. Likewise, women are supposed to stay at home and take care of the children. People live in a joint family and make contributions on household tasks and expenses. However, like the Mexican culture, these practices has been changing in Nepali culture too. As mentioned earlier, Mexican families had been modernized. While some families still follow the traditional family system, many others have changed the way they live. New families prefer to live in nuclear families and females have started being the head of the household. Even though the family structure has been modernized nowadays, family is the number one priority among many modern Mexicans. They still like to celebrate festivals and occasions with all of their relatives and still take care of their elderly parents. Sociology is the scientific study of social structure, social structure influences through culture and principles, together it produces each individual to the way they act, live and think. Due to social influences, many of our morals and values are influenced through media, parents and school. Social structure is important in our society because it affects all dimensions of human experience, it is a pattern of social interaction and over all makes us who we are. The sociological term for social structure describes society as a whole and the action in which determines individuals. The three main structures that have shaped up my social structure and impacted my life are, my ethnicity, income and religion. The customs they learned as kids have been passed on to me. We were always having barbeques in the backyard, Christmas parties, Easter egg hunting, having pan de los muertos on the Day of the Death, and celebrating Mexico’s Independence. In this specific article, the authors had several questions about the way Mexican Americans went about their parenting. Mostly, they aimed to find a connection of how cultural values and neighborhood dangers impacted parenting. They are the ones who support their children during those life decisions. Family is not always blood related. Finally, family is forever, family will never go away. Support is a massive part of the family. Family watches their kids and other family members fail and succeed all the time.
