Even though one may be adopted or a step-child, they, in all hopes, are loved the same if not more than others in the family. There are no physical bounds to family. However, does family just stop there? Think about your family. Your guardians and siblings.
In my mind, a family is simply a group of people, who loves, supports, and helps each other unconditionally, and endlessly. Regardless of one’s sexual orientation or preference, all families embody these common principles. Thus, a family unites its members through the strong bonds and kinships formed when people come together. (Great intro.) A family traditionally is related by blood.
Every person has a different outlook of what family means. Family is not just being related to each other and living in the same house. I believe its way more than that. Family means being there for one another, loving each other no matter what, making memories that you will always remember, and supporting each other through every step of life. Without family and th...
Family, one word with so many definitions, but what truly defines what a family is? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines family as the following, a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head. I like this definition of family because it says nothing about a family being related by blood, but that they are individuals. Personally think that blood doesn’t make you family, being provided and cared for and properly taken care of and loved makes you family. Not all families are blood related, there’s families that have adopted kids, families that have no kids, families that consist of two people and a pet or two.
What is family? Each person defines family according to what family means to him/her. The concept of family means various things to different people, yet the meaning of the word can bring different emotions to the person who hears it. But no one is born into this life alone. Everyone has known the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many it is a bond that can last life long time.
I included spouses not related by blood because they have been married into the family since before I was born, so even without blood relations they are kin to me. They are also the mothers and fathers of my cousins who I share blood with, which makes me feel like they
They support me a lot more than I deserve to be supported. I’ve always been a lot closer to my friends and they are almost like a family to me. My real family is probably a lot more important in the big picture though. The way I think and feel about things I mostly got from how I was raised. I am who I am because of my family.
Family can not be described in a simple definition, in my opinion, a family is bigger than just that. Everyone tends to think that family is just people that are related to you and will always be there for you, but I do not think it is merely that simple. For me family is there when you do not even need them. People that are constantly making you feel loved and never making you feel unwanted. Family is not the blood that runs through your veins, it is the emotional connection you feel with someone.
After writing about my history and the themes I selected, I have learned a lot about who I am in society. I have realized that I am an average girl that has not experienced much of life. During this analysis I have come to realize I have not had much contact with other family types or other cultures. The definition of family is “It finds its origin in marriage; it consists of husband, wife, and children born in their wedlock, though other relatives may find their place close to this nuclear group, an the group is united by moral, legal, economic, religious and social rights and obligations” (Ravelli and Webber 283). My family fits perfectly into the definition of what a family is.
However, the definition might shift as people go from being children to adolescence then to adults. When children hear the word family they think of the traditional definition. For instance, they think of parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, etc. They do not think of anything else because that is what they have always known. They have never known about anything else.
