Introduction to family The meaning of family is a collection of people or other things that someone loves or cares for. Things other than humans can be considered family because some people consider certain pets of animals as family. Some people could own a pet, like a dog or cat, and still love them as they would a sibling of family member. People say that family is the people who share the same blood or genes, but that's not what I’d consider family. It is the relationships that you build with your family that allows you to call them family. Blood isn’t what ties you to your family, it’s the relationships that you make with them that do. The entire family worked,even her, just to support themselves. She had attended school in Mexico, but after school she’d work at a nursery. Since my my mom worked and went to school she didn’t have much time to herself. She’d told me that that when she did have time, her and her brother would run through the fields and catch dragonflies. Her brother and her would strings and tie them to the tail of the dragonflies. When the flies tried to fly away they’d get stuck, flying in one spot, like a balloon on a string. My mom and her brother relied on each other often,due to the fact that they had no other siblings and and little to no other people to interact with. For a certain amount of days they did what my mom wanted, her and her brother playing with dolls and playing pretend. Other days they would do what my uncle wanted to do, like play with marbles. Eventually, my mom and her family crossed the border through the desert.. They walked for three days and three nights. Once in America my mom found a better life. She no longer had to work because her parents go better paying jobs. My mom continued with her education and at some point even started getting an allowance. She would get 50 cents a day, but hey, it was still an allowance. She would tell my big brother and I of how she had to save for days just to buy a small bag of chips and a soda. Most of the essays that I write are just one big paper with paragraphs that all share the same statement or purpose. Thi multi-genre essay had paragraphs, yes, but each one had its own little mini topic. This was the first time I did this type of essay, but I felt more confident in this essay when I found out that it was going to be about family. I like this topic because its about family, and family is very important to me. I feel that essays on family would be more detailed and personal because the writer has a better connection with the tiopic than soemthing that they were unfamiliar with.
