Familial Love: The Road to Becoming a Human Oreo Similar snapshots of this one moment will be mirrored throughout different families and times both past, present, and future. There are moments of absurdity that occur in any family. Sitting stacked upon each other on a plush and comfortable couch, my Mother, Sister and I depict such a moment. When gazing at this particular photograph, one feeling overwhelms me: love. Simply stating “love”, however feels over-rated and unspecific. Just saying “love” is akin to comparing a puddle on a sidewalk to the ocean, the depth of the ocean cannot be explored through a mere puddle. My affection for this picture lies in the evident familial bond and caring that is displayed. There is this understanding between …show more content…
Often found, is that family that is chosen, through friends and romantic love, can be considered better family than a biological family. Protection is shown by family members through helping an ill or elderly member, protecting someone from the law, or in violent situations, placing another’s life before their own( prime example being when Lily Potter sacrificed herself for Harry Potter). The bond and emotional tie between humans can also lead to protection in ways that consist of inflicting violence on others-in self defense or retribution-as well as the act of saving a family member over a stranger in desperate situations. This writer believes that the element of familial protection is a part of evolution that evolved to help the survival of the species as a whole. Familial protection is an unspoken accord promising mutual benefit to both parties shown through familial …show more content…
Humans as a species cannot function without social interaction; loyalty distinguishes a tie between people that will provide that interaction as well as keep the interaction consistent on a regular basis. The definition of the word “love” cannot be put into a simple sentence. It may be shown in actions; for example, spending hours helping a little sister with their college applications, doing the dishes for a loved one when they 're tired, or simply remembering what their favorite food is. Familial love is odd in the fact that with biological family no matter how annoying that family member ma be, we still feel obligation to interact and take care of said family member. This type of love has no limits in who it can include. On the flip side, when there is a betrayal by a family member that wound is so much deeper. Families are torn apart everyday because of bad decisions. Familial love is a primal instinctual feeling that drives a good portion of our lives. This photograph is an ode to simpler times. When all the children had to worry about was when their next meal was, how muddy they could get the dogs, and whether or not they got to hang out with their older sister and her friends. Familial love is such a complex sentiment that this photo merely encapsulates a small portion of the variance and wonderful emotion that can be the impetus for the actions of humans
Familial Love is natural or instinctual love. Familial Love can also be referred to as the love between a parent and a child. In J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, the character of Holden Caulfield does not convincingly embody a compassionate and caring character. Holden, after having a difficult year at school, finds comfort in his memories of his brother Allie. Another instance of Holden finding comfort, is when he spends time with Phoebe. In the same way, Phoebe is supportive when spending time with Holden. However, this takes a turn for the worse, as Holden reveals to Phoebe that he is leaving. Holden finds comfort and love through his memories of Allie, his experiences with Phoebe and the support from he receives from her.
Almost everyone is born into a family. In “Of Mice and Men”, the characters George Milton and Lennie Small have a relationship that could be described as a family relationship. In “The Gilded Six-Bits”, Joe Banks and Missie May are a husband and wife. These people interact with others but there is a different type of interaction between the people who they consider to be family. When people interact with family members, they are usually more free with their actions and words than they are with strangers or mere acquaintances. Sometimes these carefree words and actions lead to disruptions within their relationships. Regardless of the trials and tribulations, everyone desires to have someone that they can care for and call their family.
For most people family is one of the most important parts of life. For they are the people who raised you and taught you things needed in life. For most of us we have a connection with are family that is unparallel in life, which is the reason for are undying love. At times though there is a point at which we take are family for granted like they will always be around. Parents might do things that are not agreed upon by the children, yet the parent thinks it is in the child's best interest. Sometimes it might not even be the best thing to do in that situation, yet parents have a true desire to protect their children from the dangers of the world. On the other hand, children do not always listen to the advice their parents give them and can get themselves into a lot of trouble. Anyway you look at it, most of the time we do not realize what we have until it is not longer with us. Many times we do take our family for granted and when one passes away there are many things we wish we could have said or done to show them are love. The play "Into The Woods," by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is a direct example of how families treat each other. There is conflict ranging from hating sisters, to protective mothers and a disagreeing husband and wife. In the end lives are lost, family are in pain and those left realize that they need to treat their family better and hold on to the loved ones that they have. Families do encounter many difficult choices together, but they also must solve the problems together, and keep peace within the family, because bad choice will be regretted when those loved ones are not around longer.
In Stone Soup, Barbara Kingsolver interprets family as a foundation of love. In the beginning of Kingsolver’s essay shares an anecdote that takes place at a children’s soccer game. Andy, Kingsolver’s best friend’s son, has a cheering section and an undeniable love for Andy. She notices the family leap to their feet and hug each other for the child. The child’s family includes his mother, and her friends, his brother, his father and stepmother, a stepbrother and stepsister and a grandparent. Kingsolver’s essay, in a like manner, explicates that a family has a foundation of love.
How can a simple six letter word be so complicated to define? Family is a single word that is open to many interpretations depending on the individual. If you try to condense this ideal to a single clinical definition you end up excluding numerous members of society. What comes to mind when you think of the word family? While in the most broken down and literal sense, family means a relative with a blood or legal bond, the word family can encompass blood relations, adoptions, and even intentional relationships such as friendships. Economies, cultures, and backgrounds can further differentiate what one’s perception of a family is. For many people, including me, a family is so much more. It is the amount of commitment, cohesiveness, and importance
Everyone seems to define family differently, however, the significance of family is the same. For you, family means everything. You can always count on your parents and siblings for help and love. Family is very valuable and important to you and should never be taken for granted. No one can deny that family is the foundation of our generation. A family is where we all start our life journey and helps us grow to be successful throughout our lives.
As a young adult lady, I grew up always being told how perfect I truly was, I grew up with the unconditional support of both my parents and a strong center in family orientation. I was blessed with these luxuries and I am forever thankful. Although I control the outcome of my life and I control my thought processes and social behaviors, my family has a big impact on how I carry myself and the aspirations I set for myself. Having a supportive family makes my life easier to endure during rough patches in my life and easier to reach my goals. I’ve endured the heartaches and the painful memories, but I am never alone in my pain. I think my family is the direct cause of my naturally elevated confidence during this vulnerable phase in my life, Although I do not want to give the perception of perfection but this mindset has helped me get through the toughest patches and come out on top, it has helped me dispatch from friends when needed and form positive inferences on how healthy relationships are suppose to look like. All families have some type of unique dysfunction, the dysfunction helps with the development of “ lessons learned”. Every family has different dynamics, some are smaller, some are big, some are closer than others. The only similarity that remains is that they all make an impact on a child 's mental, physical and
My family is a love I have. My immediate family consists of six people: my dad, mom, and three sisters and me. However, I love these people on a different scale than I love books. Whether it is a hand to guide, a tissue to wipe away tears, or simply a smile to make my day better I can count on people to love me and so, henceforth, I love them in return. I love my parents for many reasons. They are always there for me when I need help or am need of anything.
The relationship and love you have with your family is one of the most important things you can have because family is always there for you no matter what situation you are in, even when you are at your worse they do the best they possibly can to help you and get you back on your feet. Sometimes they don’t show all their love towards you but that doesn’t mean they don’t love you and aren’t there to support you. This is what we have have experienced with our own families as well as with the stories To Kill a MockingBird and A Visit to Grandmother's.
The idea of family is something that most people strive to have, and they make great journeys and sacrifices in order to maintain the integrity of their family. The bonds of family can motivate a person to make big changes for the betterment of their family. In many cases, a person will sever a piece of their self in order to maintain the integrity of their family. People will go to great lengths to maintain their families, as is evident in “A Worn Path” by Eudora Welty, “Babylon Revisited” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and “Intervention” by Jill McCorkle.
There are so many different types of family relationships. Whatever form a family takes; it is an important part of everyone’s life. My family has played an important role in my life. Good family relationships serve as a foundation to interactions with others. Supportive families will help children to thrive. The quality of the family relationship is more important than the size of the family. Making the relationships priority, communication, and providing support for one another is key to developing relationships. Family relationships are what make up our world today; they shape the ways that we see things and the ways that we do things.
When I was younger I never thought about how hard it was to be an adult. I never thought about the consequences of my actions. I was young and I didn’t have a care in the world. I never realized how hard my parents worked, or even how tired they would be after their long days. Being a child you never realize just how much your parents go through to support their families. They never want to tell you because it’s “grown up talk” and “you’re too young”. They never stop to think that just because you’re young you still catch on. As you get older you start to see and hear the things you shouldn’t. You begin to slowly understand why you see your mom wide awake in the middle of the night and why your dad is always tired and cranky. You never think about it though. You just push it to the side and keep doing your own thing. Then finally when you get into your teens you finally understand everything and it changes your life.
Affection between my mom and dad was shown, but not in a gross way. They would usually kiss when my dad left for work in the mornings, and when they would talk on the phone they would say “I love you” before hanging up. Affection is not a big thing in my family. My mom is more affectionate towards my sisters and I than my dad. She will hug us and tell us that she loves us often. My dad, on the other hand, does not. He only shows affection when something big is happening, like leaving for college or going off to camp for a couple weeks. I know that he does love us, but he does not say it often.
Not all Families are perfect. Some argue, some fight, some even stop talking to each other at times, but in the end, family is family. The love will always be there no matter what. Everyone has their own definition of what FAMILY means to them. The real question is, do we know what Family really stands for? FAMILY stands for (F)ather (A)nd (M)other (I) (L)ove (Y)ou. You don’t need a Father or Mother figure in your life, they are whatever we consider a family to be.
