Faith Told My Story

By having faith in God, or strong beliefs one is able to convince any individual that experiences in life or reasons events happen is based solely upon what they believe in. In having such a strong faith the difference between what is real and what might seem unimaginable conflict with one another. The reason being is that others see unexplained events as faith taking its course, and to others it is just considered luck or a phony story all together. In having a strong belief and having faith in something a story has more meaning to an individual than just any ordinary story being told. If an individual lacks having faith, it also affects the validity of having a reason to believe in supernatural, or unexplained things happening. In the Life of Pi, author Yann Martel displays to his readers how one’s strong belief and faith is able to help an individual through life’s most difficult times and overcome any challenges that lie ahead of you. Also authors Wael Khairy and Moses Ma shed some light onto this particular subject by providing readers with both sides of whether a story is solely based on faith or rather a reason behind what can really be explained. The story Life of Pi mainly focuses around an individual’s faith in God and one’s religion. Reasons being is that it explains the way unexplained events are validated, how it strongly impacts individuals view point, and directly affects the way in which our faith leads one to have certain reasons to believe the way things are.
People are so deeply immersed into faith and religion that when difficult situations tend to come their way, religion and faith is the first place they turn in order to overcome the challenges that lie ahead. People turn to religion...

...the typical lifeless boring story that doesn’t have a lasting impact on the readers. However when these stories are infused with great imagination and is pictured larger than life itself it leaves an everlasting impression and are going to have a greater effect on all. Life of Pi portrays to the audience the way in which faith is the answer to unexplained events. By exposing others to what are experiences it impacts the way they begin to see and how faith and religion will begin to play an important role in their life. By allowing an opening ending to the story it allows the readers to have their own insight of what they feel best represents the outcome of the story and which best validates the way things are. People may think things cannot happen or because things are unexplained that it isn’t true, however what may seem far from real doesn’t mean it is impossible.

    The Life of Pi by Yann Martel was a fascinating and exciting narrative that described the journey of a young boys life starting with the formation of his beliefs moving all the way through an adventure that changed his life forever. I found it extremely engaging on both a philosophical level and a psychological level as I saw Pi, a young boy, curious about life, discover both religion and go through an extremely traumatic experience. I found Pi's devotion to God to be an uplifting example that many people throughout the world should see. Although I do believe that Pi was confused about how to best love God, I admire his efforts and believe that his dedication is sincere. I also found the psychological aspect of Pi to be almost as fascinating as religion. I could see from the beginning that Pi was quite thoughtful and always tried to think before he acted. However, what I found even more fascinating than his pre-planning cognitive abilities was how he thought when he was under great stress. Perhaps the best example of how he coped with stress was towards the end of the book when he tells what may be the true story, and we can see that he may have represented everyone as an animal in order to deal with the situation. This provides valuable insight into Pi's mind and opens a whole new area of possibilities when considering how Pi thinks. This ending leaves how Pi thinks open to interpreting which adds a intriguing aspect to the book. Beyond the religious and theoretical aspects of the book, the adventure seen kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
