Failure is an abstract term that can be defined arbitrarily. To some, failure can mean the end of a long drawn out venture, while to others it may be the start of a new journey. In life, failure is a way of learning to make decisions; it is a lesson that can only be taught by none other than yourself. Highschool is a general learning experience for all. It is full of successes and failures that help to grow and nurture your character. To experience failure is to become stronger, wiser, and more aware of future complications. There have been many times when I’ve failed and have had to grow and gain newfound knowledge to surpass my experiences. The very start of junior year in highschool comes with high expectations from all angles. This is the year that standardized test scores determine your future, transcripts will be sent to admissions offices of colleges, teachers ruthlessly pile on homework, and parents still expect you to maintain the “perfect child” image. To start off my eleventh grade year, my schedule had been stuffed with honors and AP level courses, I had taken up a part time job, and had been promoted to co-captain of my school cheer team. With the time I had to spare between balancing a job, cheer practice, and core classes, there never seemed to be enough time for my art class. It began with my unclear understanding of the schedule the teacher established for submission of assignments. After taking the initiative to clear up my misinterpretation of the schedule I thought it would be easier to manage turning in projects by the deadline. Unfortunately this was not the problem. It was expected of me to have at least one new project turned in every single week. I was unable to meet the strict deadline and therefore started to fail the advanced placement studio art
