Every year, an average American will consume approximately one hundred-twenty six pounds of meat. This meat can be traced back to factory farms where they are stored and tortured to turn into a product for the appetite of humans. The terrible treatment these animals are forced to endure is the outcome of the greed and want for a faster production of their product. The factory farming industry strives to maximize output while minimizing costs, but always comes at the animals’ expense.
Factory farming practices are not beneficial due to the damaged health of the environment, animals, and people. The idea of factory farms is to produce meat at a faster pace, but the way these companies do this make life a living hell for the animals. For example, …show more content…

Animals are also being abused mentally, especially cows. For example, “just within hours of birth, calves are taken away from their mothers. The saturated fat has been linked to heart disease and obesity, and also reveals that the unnatural feeds that are used to promote growth in animals on factory farms also increase the saturated fat content of meat, the meat that is used for the daily intake of humans. Not only that, but hormones that are used to increase growth in the animals also cause breast, prostate, and colon cancers. In addition, “Poor sanitation and waste management on factory farms and the poor management of animal waste can lead to the contamination of the food supply by bacteria like E.coli and salmonella.
