What factors determine educability? Discuss factors and their effects.
Throughout the history of education there have been specific factors which influence the educability of an area or a child. These include home education levels, parental interest, family size and other such things. During this essay I will be discussing these effects on children and their education and whether they’re the main cause of low educability.
To begin, the education level of the home and its effects on children has been deeply researched for years and has provided similar results each time. According to Wendy Field in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald (Sep. 1st 2015), “The strongest influence on a child’s future is a parent’s expectations and aspirations for their child – the value they place on education and what they believe their child can achieve.” If a parent shows no interest or has no ability to engage with their child about their education, then inevitably the child will lose interest in their own education which decreases the quality of education they receive and in the future the occupations they’ll be able to choose. There are ways we can avoid these circumstances according to Wendy, by “Guiding parents on how to support their child’s early reading and numeracy skills –“, and she says this is the key to a child’s educational success. Examples of ways we can support parents and guide them through parenthood are having parent focus groups where parents talk of their experiences and share techniques, teachers including them significantly in the child’s education, education courses and so …show more content…

The main points highlighted are the family education background, family interest, financial stability and community status but there are many other factors that influence the results. As seen by many researchers, social and financial stability often goes on to provide a better education and future aspirations for children compared to those who are in a lower social class. With status and money, better connections can be made, better education and materials can be bought and more opportunities can be taken, whereas less privileged families aren’t able to do this. The divide in the education system due to social class is increasing regardless of reports that state there is no social system and it’s frankly unfair to the children who want to learn and be successful but are less fortunate. They deserve an equal education to a financially stable families’ child and deserve equal opportunities and successful
