Facebook was originally only open to other fellow Harvard students, it increased slowly to other Ivy League schools, then rapidly made its way to all colleges across the Unites States, and today the worldwide socializing network is open up to anyone over the age of 13 years old. This company expanded rapidly due to its clever approach allowing people to keep in contact with one another over the internet. People are now easily connected to everyone over the world with just a click of a button. Facebook makes it very simple for people to find one another due to the search bar, thousands of different networks, and the “people you may know” bar. This company has expanded at a rapid rate over the past few years and now has over 900 million active users. With this very new and modern socializing website there are many positives, negatives, and questions about the future of the growing company Facebook.

Most organizations are affiliated with Facebook, as “almost 22,000 organizations had Facebook directories,” as of November 2006. A year after that in 2007, Facebook was named the seventh most popular website (Ellison 1).
