Fifa has made £1,200,000,000 per year from sponsors, television and the World Cup. Fifa’s latest financial amount over the four years to the end of 2010 show the organisation has earned more than four billion. That's an increase of fifty-nine percent over the previous four year stretch which included the World Cup in Germany (BBC, pars. 1). Its broadcast rights and marketing which are leading the boom of course, and Fifa is riding the wave that's thrown the Premier League skywards too (BBC, pars. 2). Fifa has banked $631m to its reserves, which now stand at $1.2 billion (BBC, pars. 3). Fifa says of the money it raised, seventy percent was ploughed back into the game by staging tournaments and investing in projects. Fifa put $794m into football development, including its 'Goal' and 'Win in Africa' projects (BBC, pars. 4). More than $350m has been handed out to the member FAs, under what's called the Financial Assistance Programme (BBC, pars. 5)
FIFA was first created in the year 1904 and since then they have a long history about how soccer became a worldwide sport. The history of FIFA begins after an international soccer match played between France and Belgium, taking place in Brussels, Belgium on 1 May, 1904. The French and Belgium soccer players decided that it would be a good idea to create a soccer association to make rules of soccer.So they created the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) which is now one of the most famous football associations in the world. FIFA was founded in the rear of the headquarters of the Union Française de Sports Athlétiques at the Rue Saint Honoré 229 in Paris on 21 May 1904(CFH, pars. 1).

The FA spent decades, making the game better and developing rules and regulation for the games. The sport was spread all over the world, as far away as Australia and Canada. The FA brand of soccer stayed popular until the establishment of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) in 1904. Today FIFA, being the sport’s international body consists of more than two hundred nations. All these nations seek to send their best team to the FIFA World Cup every four years (Auerbach). Soccer began to spread throughout the world in the late 1800's. By 1900, associations had been established in Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. In 1904, the national associations founded the Federation Internationle de Futbol Association. Soccer was made an official Olympic sport in 1908. The Canadian Soccer Association was established in 1912, and the United States Soccer Federation was set up in 1913. The first World Cup was played, in 1913, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Since then, the World Cup has been held every four years, except during World War II (1929-1945), when the games were suspended.

Statistics show that 11 million dollars are being made a year and none of this money is seen by the players. That is very eccentric because the players play a important role in the sports business. Players also promote the business and bring more viewers and money to the business as well. The organization should give the players the benefit of the doubt because with out the help of the players the organization would significantly fall. The huge amount of money have left people questioning whether athletes should be paid.
Games similar to soccer were played in China as early as 400 BC. In about 200 AD the Romans played a game in which two teams tried to score by advancing a ball across a line on the field. The Romans passed the ball to one another but they never kicked it. London children in about 1100 played a form of soccer in the streets. During the 1800’s the people of England played a game similar to soccer. Many rules changed and each person interpreted the rules differently. In 1848 a group of school representatives met at Trinity College in Cambridge and drew up the first of soccer rules. In 1863 English soccer clubs founded the Football Association. By the late 1800’s soccer began to spread to the rest of the world. The Canadian Soccer Association was established in 1912 while the United States Soccer Federation was set up in 1913.

...ph S. Blatter was born in 1936. He was elected as president on June 8, 1998. When younger, he was a soccer player himself. He served FIFA for 23 years before this. In 1975, Blatter joined FIFA as Director of Technical Programmes. He helped lay the groundwork for future under-age and women’s competitions. He served as General Secretary for nine years as CEO. Blatter helped organize 5 FIFA World Cups, and helped FIFA grow a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages. He also formed a partnership with UNICEF. Blatter not only did all of this, but he also introduced world championships for Beach Soccer, and Futsal and developed FIFA Club World Cup. Blatter maintained the policy of using football to aid the development of developing countries by promising the World Cup of 2010 to Africa. FIFA is now a massive corporate body whose actions have a political and global impact.
