There are many causes to gun violence according to different people and how they view guns in America. There are two main reasons of causes that affect gun violence which are pop culture and a lack of parenting. According to PoliceOne Gun Control Survey, “Today’s children are more prone to violence due to video games and the violent movies.” Many video games such as Kindergarten killer which been online for years consist of a janitor killing children by shooting them in the head and seeing how many points you can get to beat the game. Just last year, a man went into an elementary school and shoots 26 people including children. Violence in video games and media has not properly been introduced as a bad thing. It’s more praised. Also, people that are parole that should not
Parents are not in their children lives. Rather if it’s a single parent home or a home with two parents, they are not in their children lives enough. According to PoliceOne Gun survey, “In today’s world, both parents work, there is no family time to teach, to learn, to love. If parents don't show children love and that they are cherished, how can that child grow up and show love to any other person? When you don't care if the person in front of you, beside you, and in back of your lives or dies, it is pretty easy to pull a trigger.” Many parents are so busy trying to provide that they don’t understand the most important part about raising a child is being in their lives to teach them to how to properly treat people and show that child love. For instance, where I am from there is more gang violence than anything else. A child as young as twelve runs around cussing, being disrespectful, and looking for an adult role model who happens to be someone who is gang affil...

I believe gun violence can be reduced in the United States by three steps: more restrictions on gun control, more tracking on who has guns, and more security. There many gun shops that are not being closely watched by the government. The government or private company that’s supply the guns needs to know how many guns ( type) they are giving a specific gun shop and restrictions on who can get them. That way it will be easier to tell who the guns are being sold to and if the shop is dong illegal things. Lastly, more security needs to be in schools and more frequent locker checks. There are too many school shootings that are happening today that could have been prevent. I don’t believe that my three steps will stop gun violence but it would reduce it.
Gun violence is a huge problem because of the things that are possibly causing it to occur. Violence like this isn’t just affect the family/families involved, but it affects the community as one. It affects the children of the community the most. For children, being exposed to gun violence it can lead to a deep impact: aggression, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress (The Impact.) Something like this would cause children to stay inside more; they would be too scared to go outside and play. Gun violence is a problem because it’s killing our population. It’s a problem because young children and adults lives are taken before they can even experience “life.” It’s a problem because it’s killing innocent people, not just people who are guilty of something. It’s a problem because more Americans now die from guns rather than cars. It’s a problem because people take advantage of the Second Amendment and their rights. It’s a problem because it’s the second-leading cause of death for ages 1-19 in the U.S. It’s a problem because it’s slowly escalating into something revolting that hasn’t even happened yet. Gun control obviously causes so many drastic problems, but there are courageous measures that have to be taken in order for there to be a
Through two decades ago and in recent years gun violence has increased significantly in the various parts of the United States. There are more cases of children and young adults, engaging in violence. Gun violence leads to the death of many civilians annually. Gun violence touches every segment of our society. It increases the probability of deaths in incidents of domestic violence, raises the likelihood of fatalities by those who intend to injure others and among those who attempt to commit crimes. put children and young people at special risk, and disproportionately affect communities of color. Gun violence harmed all the society and it was a nightmare which produced a culture soaked in blood.
In recent years a great deal of attention has been centered on youth violence. Numerous studies have been conducted on children of all races who are subjected to gun violence. However, violent behaviors start from within the environment where children have been exposed too. Household, poor communities and school as well have put children at risk. Yet the problems of violence relatively are increasing according to Children’s Defense fund that gets their information from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, and other government statistics. It should be examined further since multiple acts of violent behaviors with guns continued to plague our society. In what ways can we stop gun violence from killing our children? Psychologists are interested in this question, and one answer is stop protecting firearms.
Violence in the United States is a major problem, but our politicians only want to focus on gun violence, and some of them believe the solution to ending gun violence is by preventing law abiding citizens from exercising their second amendment rights. Guns are easier to commit a crime with than other weapons, or without a weapon at all, but with an estimated 270 million guns the hands of citizens (11 facts), if they were the problem we would know it by now. It is undeniable that guns are responsible for a high amount of crime, but we already have tens of thousands of gun laws in the United States (How many gun laws are there?), that haven’t been able to curb gun violence. If the current laws were working, then maybe there would be a reasonable
Many people believe that these shootings have occurred is because the availability of weapons in our society. This is not true. Guns have been in our society for hundreds of years. Before 1968 anyone could buy a gun through the mail with cash, and a hand-written statement that they were of legal age and without criminal record. (Bridgeman 14a) Yet in 1968, students didn't go to school and try to commit mass murder.
When we talk about death by gun violence most people think about mass shooting at a school and it is very easy to fall into one of two categories. Either all gun violence deaths are cause by the gun or by the gun owner. But to understand gun violence deaths it is important to understand what exactly gun violence is. Gun violence is a combination of different circumstances: from kids finding his or her father’s gun to spree killing to mass murder to domestic violence to gang violence. Solutions cannot be found as one big idea; there is no “one size fits all.” Gun regulations should stay the as they are currently because too many laws make it harder for people who use guns for protection to get guns, criminals will get guns easier if there are
Reducing gun violence in the United States has been an uphill battle for the government with arguments pending on how more gun control laws would help in decreasing the crime rate. While others argue that these laws make it harder for law abiding citizens to obtain guns in which they can protect themselves. Criminals are going to ignore the law and obtain guns any way thus, these harsh gun control laws will only hurt the law abiding citizen. Better enforcement of existing laws and dealing with crime itself as one issue is another argument many have also stated.
Gun violence can be solved with more restrictions, gun ownership, gun control and enforcement of gun laws. “Domestic violence assault with firearms are 12 times more likely to end in death than those without them” proved by research done by California General Task Force of Criminal Justice Response to Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence happens every day, and it can happen to anyone; in a situation such as this one, if a firearm is involved, there are more risks of something more severe or tragic happening. The” FBI reported 5% more increase in NICS checks (185,345) on Black Friday than last year” The Trace. Gun control and the amount of them being purchased by Americans is a reason to consider for what purpose. Another reason gun control should be more efficient and profound is "an online survey of 3,000 people Harvard's injury control research center found that 22% of Americans professed to own guns and 25% of those gun owners of the five or more weapons.” The center's director Dr. David Hemenway in October said that “guns in your hands might lower rates of guns to the side and accidental shootings, but the fact that these gun owners feel they must compile an arsenal raises another set of questions.” “Who are these people and why do they have so so many guns?” Hemenway asked. “And are they
Guns have the potential to inflict serious injuries, and intensify violence. Gun violence is a constant issue the United States has dealt with for many years. Gun violence is preventable. It can be prevented through a public health approach that keeps communities and families safe. Violence is an epidemic in this society. Preventing the spread of violence has to be a priority.
Flanagan explains throughout her article that out of the American youth today, 97% of them play violent video games for at least two hours per week. Also in the article “Imaginary Guns Don’t Kill People, either” by Scott Shackford, he explains that since violent video games have become such a popular activity, it is considered surprising if one hasn’t played one by now. Violent video games show teens that shooting people is acceptable. In “Is video game violence bad?” by Christopher J. Ferguson, he states that the trigger of violent video games causes at least some of aggressive actions that happen throughout the world, including school shootings. For example, in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999, two students carried weapons into the school and proceeded to kill thirteen people. Unsurprisingly, the roots to their actions were speculated to be prior bullying experiences and violent video games (History.com). Also, Ferguson states that violent video games are correlated with mass shootings across the nation. Teens that have been influenced by violence are a dangerous factor to themselves, classmates, friends, and
...dolescents to weapons. In many cases children have access to a weapon, particularly a handgun, within their own home. With lack of supervision, children experiment with these dangerous weapons, and may even take them out of their homes. Another contributing factor to violent acts among children is the role of the media and the way that television and movies portray violence. Every where you turn on television and in movies, you see someone killing someone or someone getting killed. Kids see the brutal ways, or the quick and smart schemes of combat tactics. They falsely believe that these types of behaviors are acceptable, because the next week they are back on the show demonstrating another episode of violent acts, with no consequences.
More than 20,000 children and youth under the age of 20 years old are injured or killed by guns in the U.S. The easy accesses kids have to getting their hands on guns are a major reason why firearms are the second leading cause of death among the youth. The majority of deaths by guns in the youth are homicides. About one-third of them are suicides. Seven percent are unintentional. People living in urban areas such as, older teens, males, African American youth, and Hispanic youth are more likely to be involved in gun homicides. People in rural areas like males and Caucasian youth are more likely to commit suicide. There were 2,711 infant, child, and teen firearm deaths. That’s seven deaths a day.
There has been many projects done to stop shootings but I believe that there should be more laws and education to stop the violence used and shown as an exalted tool. The reason being, is because in my opinion children especially middle schoolers and under are very influential and should not be exposed to guns and weapons as a toy or game because it will introduce new ideas into their vulnerable minds. In addition, children see and model the behavior of adults therefore; if taught human morals at a young age children will better understand right and wrong and will be more prone to knowing that violence is not a solution more so a
If there are restrictions on the gun ownership laws, and also a restriction in use, then these are crimes would reduce significantly, and there would be fewer reports of suicides and homicides in America. No other country in the world has such high rates of gun ownership as the United States. It is the use of these guns that has been associated with the constant reports of homicides, and the same guns are used to commit suicides. Clearly, if there is a reduction in the private ownership of guns, then it becomes possible to drastically reduce the violence resulting from the accessibility of
Gun violence is a lot of time is gang or drug related. Theses days gun violence is getting in to schools and kids are getting access to the guns. The United States has had a few school shootings. School shootings and mass shooting are on the rise and is becoming a problem. The number of shootings in which a gunman wounds or kills multiple people has increased
