As cell phones become more common, the debate over whether or not phones should be allowed in school has become a topic of interest. While one side is saying they should be allowed in school the other argues that they shouldn’t. Factual evidence from the articles “Cell Phones Should not be Allowed in Schools”, and “Cell Phones Regulations are not Necessary” can help to show which side is right and which side is wrong. There is one side to the debate maintaining that cell phones should be allowed in school. This article discusses the need for phones in order for students to communicate with a parent or guardian. If something happens when a parent has to contact a student about a change in plans or vise versa, without a cell phone there is no way to contact a parson. Another reason that cell phones should be allowed in school is that computers can do most everything a phone can do “when most schools provide computers with internet access to their students, students can send text messages to cell phones from an e-mail account, and most cell phones function like computers with web browsing” (George and Cook). When schools put a ban to phones students are not allowed to contact a parent until after school, “that included students who are calling for a ride home after they finished a test before the usual time school ended” (George and Cook). A bad on cell phone use can also put a strain on the relationship between students and their teachers, as teachers have to enforce the rules. However, though some believe cell phone use should be allowed, the counter claim to that is “Phones should be banned in school”.
