Existence and Beliefs: A Personal Reflection Essay

I imagine there are billions of stars and constellations that are constantly shifting, changing and expanding infinitely to create every single existing thing on earth and everything all of us have ever known. But I can also imagine God waving his hands like a magician and all the elements forming to create the earth, the universe, and all the people that will ever exist. We also could have just as easily poofed into existence for a reason, fates intertwining and planning to cause our creation at the precise moment we are needed. But what does it mean then, what can it all mean? The questions surrounding existentialism are answered in the world around us through personal experiences, advice from past thinkers and perception.
The universe exists solely according to each of our own experiences and feelings. For me, the universe was created by God who used evolution to construct us as intelligent, compassionate beings. This is the truth in my eyes, but I know many other people have their own faith that is just as justifiable and true as mine. I know this because everyone bases their feelings about the world around on them on the experiences that each of them had, whether it was growing up with a religion or having an emotional event that caused significant revelations. After watching the Empathic 3 video in class, I had a deep realization that the reason why we are all connected is because we each feel empathy for each other. I believe in reincarnation after death and perhaps we are all one soul with different levels of wisdom in all different moments of time. ...and the knowledge we learn from our own experiences. In this way, all human life has meaning that we create ourselves. I believe there is one holy God and that He has created the universe and all of us but ultimately, we are responsible for our own decisions and actions. There are still so many questions to be answered or looked at differently to gain understanding. I think that it is a human right and passage to spend our lives sorting through our perceptions, experiences, and advice to gain a sense of what is true about the universe and how we relate to this universe. Our humanity comes from the ability to experience the world like a story; finding beginnings, patterns, arcs, character development and endings. I hope, someday, I am able to experience and understand everything I wish to but there is always room for plot twists in any story and mine is no different.
