On both sides of the river, the downtown areas have dilapidated, old mill building that have not been in use for years. However, a lot of these old mills have been put to use housing restaurants, small business’ and law firms. In this aspect, Lewiston/Auburn may not be giving into globalized architecture. However, drive down by Auburn Middle School and there are rows and rows of houses that all look the same. The classic “white picket fence” scenario is playing out here. With this point of view, outsiders may look in and think that L/A is falling into the globalized architecture. Even with this globalized architecture moving into L/A, the people here have still kept the old historic mill buildings around, giving these two cities more of a locatecture vibe. Lewiston/Auburn is not as globalized as some would think. If anyone would take a stroll down Lisbon Street in Lewiston, they would witness the beauty of these old

As been described earlier, with plenty of technical problems, he acknowledged young architects; even a house needs constant attentions (Stungo, N., 1999). Wright’s ideal of bringing human closer to the nature had inspired many architects until today, Wright to his students “Falling water is one of the great blessing to be experienced”. In point of fact, admirers of him never stop praised of his works; Cliff Hickman passionately said “I had never before seen anything so beautiful … Over and over I came back to look at the photograph of Fallingwater, the most illustrious of all Frank Lloyd Wright architectural masterpieces” (Hickman, C., n.d).
It takes a while to process everything that is going on, but once you see the whole picture, the smaller details come out and are noticeable, even within the visually assaulting Square. The tall buildings are the first things you recognize; just the sheer size of them makes you feel like a tiny, unremarkable speck of dust. Each has its own character and was created with a unique design. A uniting factor of the buildings is the windows. The glass surface reflects the afternoon sun’s light, making a giant mirror from the buildings’ sides. The mirrors create an enormous hall of other building’s distorted reflections. Hanging from the buildings are advertisements for everything under the sun. Many billboards are for the different musicals that are going to be shown at Broadway soon; the classics, like West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Annie, and Wicked, are always there. Others are announcing the release of a new HP laptop, or Samsung HDTV. Some unveil a high fashion store’s new fall line of sweaters and jeans. Of course, there is the obligatory Coke commercial, telling you to enjoy a refreshing bottle of ice cold Coke.
