Often people don't see connections to the real world from movies and books that are right in front of them. The storyline of the movie Avatar is explorers from earth being on a planet called Pandora; Pandora has many indigenous people animals that have strong cultural and appearance differences. The travelers from earth intend to learn about the land and culture while also on the search for a mineral that had been found on one of the expeditions that held great value on earth. Although Avatar is a fictional movie it represents modern and historical topics. Not only by the rare mineral unobtanium, but also by the intricate patterns of roots from the trees. The culture and values of the Na’vi people (the indigenous people of Pandora) were immensely different than the way humans lived. Money and the idea of land was not something Na’vis recognized, while explorers based their travel on money. The Na’vi people were accepting of the scientists after they gained their trust, this allowed scientists to gather information and learn knowledge how the nature and culture. Sense people had began to develop modes of transportation people have been traveling to new lands and being fascinated with what other people had as resources and how they lived their life. One of the most known explorations was in 1492 was Christopher Columbus sought out to find the new land. People from his home land became fascinated with the goods that were found in what was later named America. The time of this is refereed to a Eurocentrism, this means that europe was at the center of the world because of its great power.
