We’re all materialists to one extent or another, we all use and enjoy material goods in our daily lives, and most of us simply couldn’t get by without them. And there’s nothing wrong with that, as long as the desire of material goods doesn’t control us or our actions. Greed, the desire for more and the one thing that keeps economies running. We are constantly being bombarded with things we want to earn, that once we possess them we are meant to feel better and happier than before. Greed is an eager sign for more and more is never enough. The story “The Necklace” written by Guy Maupassant clearly illustrates the destructive capacity of greed.
