Throughout the play “Much Ado About Nothing” by William Shakespeare is about how trickery and deceit is used to persuade the minds of different characters of change the play outcome. These events eventually led to love and romance, which affected many characters. The first time trickery and deceit were encountered in this play was when Prince fooled Benedick and Beatrice into falling in love with each other. The second time deceit was used when Don John fooled Prince and Claudio into believing Hero was a whore. Lastly deceit was used when the friar came up with a plan to fool Claudio and the prince making them believe hero was dead.

In this world rumors and dishonesty happen to be everywhere, no matter where you are. Nowaday people start rumors just to hurt and insult people’s feelings that later on lead to dramatic events. In the story “Much Ado about Nothing”, we encounter different scenes that lead to rumors and deception. One scene that we encounter is when Don John, the bastard brother spreads rumors about Hero being disloyal to Claudio and Don Pedro to corrupt Claudio’s and Hero’s relationship. Another scene that we run into is when Ursula and Hero have a talk in the garden about how Benedick has love affection towards Beatrice. Later on, these two scenes play a huge role and become dramatic elements of the story. We will encounter on how rumors and dishonesty can destroy and corrupt not just one person, but many.
Much Ado About Nothing, though a critically acclaimed play, seems to be truly a fuss of trivial details and sexist thinking. The title fits the play itself, in the sense that it is a case of a great amount of nothing, which perhaps can be assumed to be a mistake on William Shakespeare's part.

The play contains numerous examples of schemes that are used to manipulate the thoughts of other characters; it is the major theme that resonates throughout the play. Each of the main characters in Much Ado About Nothing is the victim of deception, and it is because they are deceived that they act in the ways that they do. Although the central deception is directed against Claudio in an attempt to destroy his relationship with Hero, it is the deceptions involving Beatrice and Benedick which provides the play's dramatic focus.

I love reading Shakespeare as it opens up a whole new world to me. I am not to familiar with his writing style and every new story opens up new thoughts and a wonder of what he was thinking when he wrote them. I was excited going in to read Much Ado About Nothing, as I knew it was one of Shakespeare’s comedic love stories. After reading Hamlet, which I hard a hard time connecting with, I can see why this is a comedy versus a tragedy very early on as it was much more light hearted than Hamlet. The title of this play Much Ado About Nothing makes me think that Shakespeare was poking fun as it makes one believe that there is nothing going on and when in fact there is a lot going on.
