When you start to learn about different types of emotions it can help you find balance. Your different emotions make you who you are. Some people are rash and angry, some are thoughtful and kind. Your different emotions and how you control them make you who you are. You become a better person when you learn how to control how you display your emotions, or recognize others in pain. Emotions govern our lives, people who are known to be able to hold in their emotions, and act accordingly are held in a higher regard than people who act irresponsible and rash. Most emotional aspects are overlooked, such as anger and hurt. People look down on those who can’t control their emotions. They write it off as ‘They just need to be disciplined correctly’ or ‘It’s just a phase they will get over it’. What they don’t understand is there are a lot of people in this world who can’t control their emotions because they have a mental illness. However, if people started to look past all that and recognize the signs and treat emotions with more respect. This world might be a better place. It would also help if people understood that not everyone thinks the same based on how they were raised, or their religious standing. Most fights in politics are caused by people who don’t understand why people from other countries or religions don’t think like them. There are many sicknesses that can affect your emotions and how you display them. You could be bipolar, have depression, or even bipolar depression, and still learn how to control how your emotions show themselves and affect others. It lets them get a better control over their emotions, and get a better understanding about themselves. One example of someone who understands what emotional intelligence is, is Daniel Goleman. He is an author and a psychologist who wrote a book in 1995 labeled “Emotional Intelligence; Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.”, the book focuses on why emotional intelligence is as important as, if not more than, IQ when it comes to success in academics, social, professional, and interpersonal aspects of your life. He states that emotional intelligence can be taught and cultivated, and that the outlines should be taught in schools. He understands that it is important in life and that there are many different routes to understand emotional intelligence. Another example is in the children’s cartoon “Avatar: The Last Airbender” one episode approached this issue.
