Classic Rock, Modern Rock, and Metal are a few of the most common types of Rock music. Rock music was brought about in 1955 by a black man named Chuck Berry. White singers soon inherited rock and roll. For example, Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly were a couple of the first known white people to play a version rock music. Classic Rock and Metal are a couple examples of the first widely known Rock genres, which today, also helped lead to Modern Rock.
Classic Rock is generally music ranging from the late 1960s, to the late 1980s. However, when a band (or musician) who was known from the Classic Rock Era comes out with a new album, they are usually still referred to as a Classic Rock artist. For example, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Tesla are a few Classic Rock bands.
Aerosmith is a rock band which originated from Boston, Massachusetts. The success of Aerosmith all started with their song “Sweet Emotion” (1975), which holds one of Classic Rock’s most enduring guitar riffs. Aerosmith’s first “Top 10 Hit” was “Dream On” (1973), reaching No. 6, and turning into one of the ‘70s most resilient power ballads. Aerosmith then came out with one of their most commonly known songs, their first No. 1 hit, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” in 1998.
Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Bon Jovi took their name from their lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi. “Livin’ On a Prayer” (1986) hit No. 1, and is considered the band’s signature song. Another one of Bon Jovi’s widely known songs is “You Give Love a Bad Name”, which also came out in 1986. Bob Seger helped inspire Bon Jovi’s song “Wanted Dead or Alive”, which has been released 37 times, and has reached No. 7.

There are many different types of Rock music. However, Classic Rock, Metal, and Modern Rock are a few of the most common types that people tend to hear nearly every day. There are countless numbers of bands who fit into the category of being a Classic Rock, Metal, or Modern Rock band. For example, the bands I listed previously were: Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Tesla for Classic Rock; KISS, Metallica, and Motley Crue for Metal; and Shinedown, Linkin Park, and Three Days Grace for Modern Rock. However, there could be many more listed under each category. For instance, ACDC could fit under the Classic Rock category, Slayer could fit under the Metal category, and Nirvana could fit under the Modern Rock category. Whichever is your favorite, just remember to rock on!
