Evolution vs. Creationism

The great debate of evolution vs. creationism has been ongoing for many years. Many like to generalize evolutionists as Atheists and creationists as Christians, but this generalization is false. There are countless scientists that are Christian, and there are also a lot of Christians that take the evolution side. In this research paper, I will contrast the ideas and arguments from both creationism and evolutionism and then take an educated side using my knowledge. I will try to be as unbiased as I can throughout the first section of the paper, and then move on to opinions based on facts on the last page.
On the first side of this debate, we have evolution. Merriam Webster defines evolution, simply, as “a process of slow change and development”. In biology, it defines evolution as “a theory that the differences between modern plants and animals are because of changes that happened by a natural process over a very long time” (Merriam Webster, 2014). It is important to note that this idea is a theory. A theory is a system of ideas used to explain something. If scientific evidence proved something about the theory of evolution wrong, then it would change. So, based off the Merriam Webster definition, biological evolution is the theory that plants and animals changed by natural process over a very long period of time. So what is that natural process?
Dictionary.com defines natural selection as “ a process resulting in the survival of those individuals from a population of animals or plants that are best adapted to the prevailing environmental conditions. The survivors tend to produce more offspring than those less well adapted, so that the characteristics of the population change over time, thus accounting for the process of evoluti...
