Five strategies that I can do in my clinical practice to promote evidence-based practice:

The impact of evidence-based practice has echoed across nursing practice, education and science. Nurses, together with other healthcare provide, need to response to the need of initiatives that maximize our contributions to the big picture of quality healthcare. As a nursing student, we are taught and stressed on the importance of evidence-based practice in every class; and below are the five strategies among lots of ways to promote it in our clinical practice.

First and foremost, I believe we need to see problems first before trying to solve them. We should be observant to the clinical problems that arise from our clinical practice. Once we can construct a focused clinical question using the PICO format, we can then concentrate on researches for “the best available evidence to answer the clinical questions”. We need to maintain the mind-set of EBP application on daily tasks and nourish the urge to do better and

These materials can be very dry and complicated to comprehend, which requires practice, perseverance and adequate clinical knowledge to obtain and decipher new findings. Actively in search for access to the sources on the concerned topics with patient as the center care should be a common practice within and outside clinical time. Also, we should present ideas in graphical ways to easily envision interrelationship between variables and focus on answering the clinical questions/hypothesis. Be a smart consumer in the market of information, conduct research on concerned topic then package relevant findings, and solid evidences into an action-driven plan that is feasible on every clinical basic.
