Reflective Assessment Essay

The purpose of this investigation is to identify an aspect of my current assessment practice. My investigation will firstly acknowledge what we do well before focussing on areas for improvement based on formative assessment.

For purposes of clarity my practice is a large sixth form college within the borough of Greater Manchester. Before completing this assignment, I strategically placed students into teams of five in order to alleviate the pressure of working alone. Formative assessment gives students and teachers information about how students are doing in relation to goals set within the classroom. Well worded and effective feedback provides a student with something they can use which means that the student has to be able hear it and comprehend it. If language is used that is not understood or information given which they don’t value, it is of no use.
