The world today is full of suffering. Diseases that are often incurable, make one’s life unbearable, steal sense of life and give a strong encouragement to die. Even the fast progress of medicine does not give opportunity to save one’s life or reduce their pain. Euthanasia comes from Greek words, Eu (good) and Thanatosis (death) and it means “Good Death.” (A General History of Euthanasia). It is inhumane to allow a patient to die slow and painful death while elements of independence slowly escape them. It also can be argued against that religious people tend to oppose euthanasia. Religions believe that killing violates the teachings of Christ. Therefore, the counter-argument against religious people is disagreeable. Patients have the right to die with dignity, and religious group should give respect to the person who wants to die. Some terminal illnesses you can prevent by avoiding unhealthy habits, eating healthily, exercising regularly and keeping up with vaccinations. Death is not a concept that is well grasped or understood but we all know the cycle of life, we live and we die. We do not know how and we do not know when, our fate is laid out for us, we just learn to accept it because it is just how it goes. Some are lucky enough to live a healthy life with few to none complications and some find themselves fighting for their lives because of a terminating illness or severely injured from any type of accident. On one hand, some oppose that it is not right for individuals to take their own life, with a physician 's help. I believe that it is just a matter of time before those patients die of sickness, and it is pointless to force those patients to live longer. I think it is best to end the lives of those in pain, rather than trying to make their lives full of suffering and torture longer.
