The world today is full of suffering. Diseases that are often incurable, make one’s life unbearable, steal sense of life and give a strong encouragement to die. Even the fast progress of medicine does not give opportunity to save one’s life or reduce their pain. Euthanasia comes from Greek words, Eu (good) and Thanatosis (death) and it means “Good Death.” (A General History of Euthanasia). As well, Euthanasia is the proper term for mercy killing – Practice purposely ending a life in order to ease pain and misery. At present Euthanasia is not acceptable to be practiced on people in most States. However, individuals should have the right to end his or her life by Euthanasia because of the individual freedom, suffering caused by disease A lot of people argue that patients are clinically insane to choose Euthanasia; those individuals who want to die are not in their right mind and they are not capable of making the decisions rationally due to the pain and stress they constantly undergo. Pro - Euthanasia people argue if patients are still sane, they must have the right to choose between life and death. It is inhumane to allow a patient to die slow and painful death while elements of independence slowly escape them. It also can be argued against that religious people tend to oppose euthanasia. They see that life is too precious and it should not be taken away from other people. “No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death” (Ecclesiastes 8:8, Bible Hebrew). Life belongs to God and ever since God gave life to humans, God is the only one that decides when it is time to die. Sixth commandment clearly states “Thou shall not kill.”(Exodus 20:13). Religions believe that killing violates the teachings of Christ. Therefore, the counter-argument against religious people is disagreeable. Patients have the right to die with dignity, and religious group should give respect to the person who wants to die. One argument states that doctors will have to much control when euthanasia will be legalized. Other arguments are issues in medical field. People may say that diagnosis can be wrong. In addition, diseases that are incurable can be found curable the next day. Pro-euthanasia people debate that diagnoses can be wrong, but they are very accurate, particularly when disease is more advanced than medications. Even if the cure is found, it will not help the patient because disease has spread through the entire
