Why do people fail to lose weight when they are exerting more calories than they are consuming? Experts insist it is all about calories in versus calories out. But, besides the label on the front, most people do not read the labels on food such as the nutrition facts and ingredients. What the people do not know is how much more important the information on the back of the item is rather than the label on the front that reads, ‘reduced fat’. Buyers are unaware of the added sugar disguised behind ‘reduced fat’ and any word ending in ‘-ose’ in the ingredients. The food companies only care about the money made off of their products. Therefore, they reduce one thing, such as fat, to attract the consumer and add more of another, such as sugar, to retain the regular taste. Across the United States, people are …show more content…

The director claims that the people from food companies do not directly state their opinion on the added sugar in correlation to people's weight. To support the director’s belief, a clip of an interview of a woman representing a food company was added in efforts to astonish the audience of what the industry thinks of the added sugar. The interviewer stuns the woman by responding to her previous answer of what the food industry is doing to improve health in foods with, “It feels like you’re avoiding the question”, and the representative is left speechless. Nonetheless, Stephanie Soechtig received criticism for her previous documentary, Under The Gun, a film that argues against gun rights. It was observed that an interview with a gun rights activist was edited to make the advocate look unintelligent to prove Soechtig’s claim of the documentary.
