The term Ethics is derived from the Greek word “ethos” which mean custom, habit, character or disposition. It is a system of moral principles, they affect how people make decisions and lead their lives.
Ethics reflect beliefs about what is right, what is wrong, what is just, what is unjust, what is good, what is bad in terms of human behaviour. Ethical principles serve as a guide to behaviour on a personal level, within professions, and at the organisational level. Ethics in fashion can be defined as the process of producing the textiles, the work environment, the marketing aspects like branding, labelling, advertising are carried on in a conscience manner. It also includes the concept of social responsibility which is important in the present scenario of business all over the world because recognising the importance the importance of environment protection and having ethical business.
With increasing fashion designers, textile producers, fashion professionals, fashion advertising etc are striving to produce goods that do not harm the nature, environment and which are cruelty free. It is important that any type of business should follow certain code of ethics to carry on its activity and therefore even fashion industry is subjected to code of ethics to carry on business ethically.
