Ethics. Business ethics are moral principles that outline how a business is to perform. Often times, companies will help their employees understand what code of ethics they want them to perform by implementing company policies. One of the dilemmas involving business ethics is that there is not always a clear ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer. Because of this, sometimes business will develop an ethics training class specific to the company. This could be helpful for employees to have so they know how to handle specific issues that could arise in the workplace. Another issue that often arises within businesses is globalization. There are many different aspects that can effect how well an individual succeeds in the workplace. Learning to be a good communicator allows a person to not only speak well, but to handle any issues that can occur. Many times individuals don’t realize their body language and tones can come across as negative but remembering how to maintain optimistic is key to effective communication. Along with that, collaborating with fellow employees can have positive outcomes. Working together means that you can get more work accomplished in less time and gain a wide variety of opinions and strategies. Problem-solving skills are also important to possess. In the workplace, we are faced with problems daily. This is why it’s important to understand the best way to dissipate these issues. In addition to these things, work ethics are also important to companies. Being able to establish good morals within yourself and a company will help prevent future issues. It’s good to define where you or a business stands on certain issues so when you are faced with them there is no question or fluctuation. Being a good citizen in the workplace will allow you to feel good about yourself and your job. It also sets a positive tone for fellow employees. It never hurts to go the extra mile, it will only make you a better employee, and that can have many positive
Currently I am working for a Christian preschool as a co-teacher for a class of eleven 3 year old children. Working for a Christian preschool you would imagine that having and displaying good morals and ethics would be a must, however just like with any workplace there are those who sometimes break or they may say bend these ethical rules and display behavior that should not be revealed in any type of situation, especially in the workplace. The ethical decisions made by businesses can affect their company in a positive way while unethical decisions made can affect them in a negative way, although these unethical decisions are not necessarily illegal. The punishments have been overkill. A murderer, rapist, or child molester commits violent crimes and potentially is out of jail in 10 - 20 years. The CEO’s that commit white collar crime receive 25 years to life; this paper will discuss how this punishment for committing nonviolent crimes, such as breaching a company’s code of ethics, are disproportionate to violent crimes that plague the country today.
