Either the therapist was unethical for crossing boundaries or he acted within the ethical codes and did not cross boundaries with his supervisees. The therapist may have shown immoral behaviors that would seem unethical to some, however was he really unethical for having multiple relationships with his supervisees. When a therapist crosses certain relationship boundaries, their behavior is questioned on the basis of ethics. It questions how effective the relationship may be in the workplace and whether or not it can cause harm or possibly exploitation towards employees. In addition, Joe did transfer his direct clinical responsibilities to another staff member because of their living arrangement, therefor he claims not being unethical. He still has some authority over her job since he is the clinical director but she is not necessarily his “supervisee”. “Crossing boundaries is not such a bad thing, violating things is a bad thing,” (B. Gormley, personal communication, February 16, 2016). Boundary crossing versus boundary violation’s, major difference is within the term harm, whether an individual is being hard in result of said action. (Corey, Corey & Callahan, 2011). Perhaps Joe may have crossed boundaries with his supervisees but he was not violating set rules, he happens to find loop holes between the codes. Aside from not violating codes we do not have reason to believe that he harmed any of his supervisees nor has anyone complained of
