College football is something that has immensely gained popularity among Americans over the past few decades. Some even prefer it over professional games. The college athletes entertain people on a weekly basis, make rivalries out of best friends, and give Americans a look at what the future of the athletic world will be. Most people would believe that someone who dedicates a huge portion of his life perfecting his bodies and form, along with performing in front of millions of people every week, would be paid, right? For several years, there has been a debate on whether athletes that play in college should be paid or not. According to Statista.com, most NFL athletes only play an average of 3.3 years, although the NFL claims it is 6 years and that is only possible if the players make a club’s opening day roster on their rookie season and don’t get injured. College players play their sport, which they spend all of their time on, like a carrier, but most won’t even make it out of college for reasons such as injuries or not making it onto professional teams. Those great players that have been playing their sport all of their lives and get injured before even stepping foot on the pro fields which leads to not getting paid for their fabulous work, which is very disappointing. Personally, I know of 2 teachers over the years, one that played football and the other that played baseball, that had serious injuries right out of college, before going into the pro leagues, and didn’t get paid a dime because they only played in college. That’s 2 people that I happened to come in contact with within the course of 3 years and I didn’t even look of them. Imagine how many other people in the United States that had the same
