The purpose of this research is to identify the reason why William Boeing is important in the aviation history. It is about what he did to be put in the history of aviation. The story is told from his anti-lesson years all the way till his death. The Boeing company is the largest aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial and military aircraft of the world. William Boeing did not wake up one day and have it all. It was a slow process. He stayed motivated and continued to work toward his goals. William Boeing was an Entrepreneur. A Entrepreneur that knew what he wanted and was willing to do what it takes to accomplish it. William Edward Boeing surrounded himself around similar people like him. He surrounded himself around wealthy people who had a strong desire for excitement as he did. There is not a bigger company that has made a bigger impact on the aviation community worldwide than the company that Boeing created.

William Edward Boeing was named after his father. His father was born in Germany. His father’s real name is "Wilheim Boing" but he got his name retranslated to "William Boeing" after he moved to America. William Edward Boeing is the first child of William Boeing and Marie Ortmann. In this 21 Century our life would be impossible without the use of aircrafts. We fail to realize how much airplanes tends to advance our daily lives. Airplanes are our main means of traveling out of the state, out of the country and for a few lucky ones, out of the continent. Airplanes help improve businesses and help broaden connections to other places. It gives us a connection to the outside world. Driving across several states is not very common measure. Flying saves so much more time that driving state to state became almost nonexistent for the ones that could afford it. Till this day the Boeing company still continues to lead the aerospace community. Boeing made himself a part of aerospace history while doing the things he loved the most.
The history of flying dates back as early as the fifteenth century. A Renaissance man named Leonardo da Vinci introduced a flying machine known as the ornithopter. Da Vinci proposed the idea of a machine that had bird like flying capabilities. Today no ornithopters exist due to the restrictions of humans, and that the ornithopters just aren’t practical. During the eighteenth century a philosopher named Sir George Cayley had practical ideas of modern aircraft. Cayley never really designed any workable aircraft, but had many incredible ideas such as lift, thrust, and rigid wings to provide for lift. In the late nineteenth century the progress of aircraft picks up. Several designers such as Henson and Langley, both paved the way for the early 1900’s aircraft design. Two of the most important people in history of flight were the Wright Brothers. The Wright Brothers were given the nickname the “fathers of the heavier than air flying machine” for their numerous flights at their estate in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. William G. Skelly, also known as Bill Skelly, made waves in the oil and aviation industry with his many accomplishments and contributions. From founding the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology to organizing the first International Petroleum Exposition Skelly has carved his name in history as being one of the giants in the oil industry as well as a great leader and entrepreneur. From early on Skelly showed tremendous dedication and work ethic to become the man that he was. With the anniversary of his passing vastly approaching, I would like to honor him by talking about his life and some of many accomplishments he made to both the aviation and oil industry.
He was dedicated to promote the idea of using airplanes in battle. Long before anyone else, he vigorously promoted the theory that the airplane would replace the fleet as America’s first line of defense. At first not very many people were willing to accept his theory, but he never gave up the idea of bringing in Airplanes to the United States army. After two years of Mitchell promoting his ideas the Army began to use airplanes in the battles at sea. The bombers that were brought in dominated the battle field and gave the United States a large advantage over their enemies. The outcome of William’s dedication was enormous, now there are over three-hundred thousand pilots serving on active duty today. Without William the air force would not be as large of an organization as it is today.

Charles A. Lindbergh was one of the greatest men in aviation history. Lindbergh was always an very out going person. He believed that he was always doing what was best for aviation no matter who he insulted or who he went against. He was a brave man that would often push the limits of his body, technology, and his planes. His goal was to advance aviation. This man did what ever it took because he believed in something greater than himself.
The aviation industry in the 1920s took flight because of men and women like Charles Lindbergh, William Boing, Betty Coleman, William J. Powell, Richard Evelyn Byrd, and Raymond Orteig. Their efforts and risks helped shape the industry as well as the Jazz Age. Both Lindbergh and Amundsen are both famous for their daring feats that helped push the limits of their planes at the time and brought attention to the new industry. Boing and Orteig are also both well recognized for investing in the industry so that it had monetary backup to make it profitable to continuously improve and advance new airplane designs.
Wilbur and Orville Wright spent their lives building and working with mechanical devices. They began with little toys as children and then grew up and began working with bicycles. These works lead them towards their work with airplanes. The Wright Brothers tried for many years to build a successful flying machine and succeeded. The Wright Brothers laid the foundation for aviation when they made history by being the first to create a successful flying machine.
The Boeing Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers in the world. Rivaled only by European giant Airbus in the aerospace industry, Boeing is a leader in research, design and manufacture of commercial jet airliners, for commercial, industrial and military customers. Despite enjoying immense success in its market and dominating an industry that solely recognizes engineering excellence, it is crucial for Boeing to ensure continued growth through consistent strategy formulation and execution to avoid falling behind in market share to close and coming rivals.
Wilbur Wright once said, “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.” He changed American culture forever when he made the first flight alongside his brother Orville. This invention would have an even greater impact on our culture than cars. Although cars are used every day in America, planes have had the largest impact on American culture. Without planes, our lives would be drastically different, but not in a good way. Airplanes had a major impact on military, commerce, and travel.

Wilbur and Orville Wright were pioneers, skilled craftsman, and engineers not only in aviation but in many other trades as well. “They loved to tinker and experiment with mechanical things and it characterized the Wrights through out their lives. Each of the brothers had a deeply ingrained inquisitive streak that was nurtured in a home that was encouraged.” (Moolman, 1980, p. 107) They had a good family upbringing, but moved frequently. The Wright brothers paved the way for aviation to take off with their thoughts, ideas, and inventions.
Boeing has looked at everything from the design of the anti-collision lights, to the reduction of small gaps in the airfoil. This has created an aircraft that is extremely aerodynamic and efficient at any task it performs. The 737 was originally created on May 11, 1964, however it wasn’t until November 9, 1964 that production was officially approved. On February 19th 1965 Lufthansa placed its first order for the 737-100, and on the 9th of April 1967 the 737 flew for the first time. In 1970, Boeing had less than 35 orders for the 737 and considered canceling the program.

On the 14th of September in the year 1607 the Earl of Tyrone Hugh O’Neill and the Earl of Tyrconnel Rory O’Donnell fled Ireland alongside officials, their families and numerous Gaelic chieftains. They left Ireland from Rathmullen in County Donegal. This flee was to become known as the flight of the Earls. They arrived in the Spanish Netherlands and then eventually made their way to Rome. The Flight of the Earls led to the most drastic form of the British government’s policy of plantation in Ireland. The Flight of the Earls has remained as one of the most memorable events in the history of Ireland. But what exactly were the reasons for the Flight of the Earls? The causes have been debated by historians with different interpretations as to why they fled but it is clear that the influence of the Earls in Ireland have been diminished greatly in the years prior to the Flight of the Earls. This essay seeks to clarify the reasons for the decline in power of the Earls in Ireland through exploration of the solidification of British rule in Ireland, along with key events in the years prior to the Flight of the Earls such as Hugh O’Neill’s campaign and onto the nine years war and the Battle of Kinsale and the Treaty of Mellifont after the Battle of Kinsale.
