A. Victor Wickersham “American’s Worst Congressman” or better known as Victor Wickersham, who was given the title after he made a sham of being an Oklahoma’s Representative. Wickersham was aligned with the democratic party in Oklahoma, where he served Oklahoma on local, state, and federal levels. Wickersham was known for his private enterprise, a real estate business, which he ran out of the capital. He was also known for preventing military base closures after the end of World War II. Yet, was a prime example of the colorful and corrupt politics that Oklahoma became known for during the middle of the 20th century. B. OCAST Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) was pushed through the state legislature in 1973 as a constitutional amendment, creating it difficult to remove, which allowed for the investment of tax playing public funds for private enterprises. These private enterprises Jerome Tiger Jerome Tiger, a Creek – Seminole descendent, began his life on the pseudo Creek Tribal land of the West Eufaula Baptist Church. After attending the Muskogee Public Schools system, he learned he enjoyed boxing and art. After a short period in the U.S. Navy, he returned home to Muskogee where under the tutelage of his older brother, who had attended an exemplary art school, he learned the traditional style of Native American art; He became well known as an artist, where his works were often emulated. He died at the young age of 26 from an accidental gunshot that killed him in 1967. E. Timothy McVeigh In short, Timothy McVeigh was responsible for the worst single man act of mass murder in the United States history. McVeigh used a mixture of agricultural chemicals and diesel fuel in his homemade bomb to destroy the Oklahoma City’s Murrah Federal building on April 19th, 1995. The bombing killed 168 human lives, including 19 children. In 2001, after six years of investigations and trials, Timothy McVeigh was put to death for his evil

Bill Clinton, President of the United States at that time, wrote a speech where he shared his sympathy for the friends and family of victims and united the country through his use of parallelism, patriotic language, and inclusive wording.

Robert Latham Owen, Jr. was one of the first two senators to represent the State of Oklahoma. Owen was a Cherokee through his mother who was a big part of his life. Owen helped Native Americans in many ways in the first part of the 20th century. Owen used his position to secure monetary gains for Native Americans through action in the U.S. Court System and through legislation in Congress.
George Washington Plunkitt was a complicated politician from New York in the 1900’s. He had his own questionable way of seeing what’s right and what’s wrong. Plunkitt’s Ideas of right a wrong sometimes seemed to be off. However, some of his ideas about things that needed to be reformed were as true then as they are now. Plunkitt seemed to be a man that knew how to get what he wanted out of people with very little effort. From the perspective of an outsider this could make him hard to trust, but to people then this wasn’t a problem.

Plunkitt was a well-liked man among his supporters and Tammany men alike. He had opposition from reformers who accused Tammany Hall of illegal activities involving graft. But, according to Plunkitt he never engaged in, "blackmailin', gamblin' or disorderly people." He said that "the politician that steals is worse than a thief. He is a fool." Plunkitt made a fortune in politics, and he did it all through honest graft. He says that even if his worst enemy wrote his epitaph that he could not do more than write: "George W. Plunkitt. He Seen His Opportunities and He Took 'Em."
Mr. Smith was appointed to be a Senator on a whim. He was the leader of the Boy Rangers with no political experience. He was principled with a clear view on right and wrong. Mr. Smith took his ideals as far as risking his career when he did not compromise in order to maintain his beliefs. In addition, special interest groups did not impact Mr. Smith's decisions. He was untouched by the corruption that he learned existed in the legislature. Yet upon discovering it, he did not change himself. Mr. Smith did not place any emphasis on re-election and did not care if people thought negatively about him as long as he remained with his values.
After receiving a medical discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Alabama. In 1946, Wallace got a job as an assistant to the attorney general for the state of Alabama. Wallace polled to become state representative of Barbour County. During his jaunt as a state representative, he had a number of highlights. They included bills that issued in the industrial era that attracted hundreds of new industries. He was also involved with the GI and Dependents Scholarships Act that provides widows and children access to trade schools and colleges.
The morning of September 11, 2001 began with the hijacking of four planes from Boston’s Logan airport. The goal of the fateful event was to cripple the United States economy by destroying what was considered to be the center of its power, Wall Street, the Pentagon and the White House (Amadeo). The terrorists successfully hit one of their targets, both towers of the American Trade Center, by 9 AM the morning of September 11th. The Pentagon in Washington D.C. was the next target with American Airlines Flight 77 crashing into it around 9:30 AM. The last plane, Flight 93, which was headed for targets in Washington, either the White House or the Capitol Building, crashed into western Pennsylvania after the passengers attacked the terrorists on board (Amadeo). The death total was staggering, 2975 people died in the attacks on September 11, 2001. This number surpassed the number of people who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 1941

Over a long period of time, an individual’s social status has always had a great impact on relationships between others. Relationships such as friendship, romance and even family relationships are greatly influenced by one’s social status. When people value social status to the utmost importance, it often acts as a barrier to further solidify relations with others. “Wuthering Heights” is a classic novel written by Emily Bronte which illustrates how social status gets in the way of relationships. This story (set in eighteen hundreds) displays the true nature of the people at that time because they excessive had pride. Since they had excessive pride, they often judged people based on their social class; hence changing their relationship between each other. In this novel social class was measured by observing an individual’s wealth, appearance and manners. Heathcliff happens to be the male lead character of this story that lacks social class due to his rebellious relationship with Hindley. Afterwards, Hindley degrades Heathcliff’s status this affects his connections with Catherine and Nelly. Since Heathcliff’s status diminishes, Catherine becomes reluctant to continue her affair with Heathcliff. Nelly also becomes wary of Heathcliff because his personality changes after restoring his own status. Thus, it is clearly seen that social class has an impact on the story by altering Heathcliff’s relationship between Hindley, Catherine and Nelly.

In December, 1607, Captain George Kendall was the first known person to be executed in the territory, now known as the United States of America. Captain Kendall was shot by firing squad, accused of spying against the British for Spain (Green, 2005). On July 7, 1865 on the site of the current Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., four people including the first female to be executed, Mary Surratt, were hanged for co-conspiring with John Wilkes Booth in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln (Swanson; Weinberg, 2006). More recently, Timothy McVeigh was executed on June 11, 2001 for the April, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, that killed 168 people including 19 children and injuring hundreds more (2004). These are just a few of the thousands of examples where justice had been served, for the despicable offenses these criminals inflict on the innocent.
John Trudell was born in Ohama, Nebraska on february 15,1946 where he was raised in small towns in Northern Nebraska near the southeast corner of South Dakota. The tribe he associates himself with is the Santee Sioux tribe (Nichols). In 1963, John was 17 years old in high school when he was called up to the principals office and was told that he had a lot of potential but that he needed to study hard to make something of himself. John felt disrespected because he felt like he had already made something of himself so after he left the meeting, he dropped out of school and this is when he joins the U.S. Navy. He served during the early years of the Vietnam War until 1967, where he would then go to college at San Bernadino Valley College in San Bernardino, California to study radio and broadcasting (Nichols). Years after that he will become a Native American Activist while joining two organizations named The Indians of All Tribes and the American Indian Movement.
