The second wave of feminists started movements that helped the poor, women, and anyone in need of help. Black feminist movements were contributed to aid in youth, protection of the people, and the well-being of an individual which was called the Black Feminist Organization in 1973 (Carabillo, Meuli and Csida 79). In the mid-seventies, the vast majority of foundations founded by women had programmed funding to the movements and was open to the public. Third wave feminism contrasts to the first wave and second wave of feminism because society has changed. Betty Friedan states that, the strategies of past feminists have resulted in changes of how women think about themselves, and the perception that others give women. Social media, television and newspapers portray women in stereotypical ways and third wave feminist are against the viewpoints of the portrayals. They work on self-respect, self-control, and the mental and physical aspect of what it is to be a woman. Third wave feminists are modern and their viewpoints differ from first wave feminists in a plethora of ways. Today, third wave feminist face more internal problems because of the advancement of socialization sites, advertisements and television. Stereotypes of women have increased because of the widespread social media, news, television and advertisements. IN contrast, they have created their definition of a woman. Feminists disagree with the representation of women and accept the name of being a feminist. Nowadays, feminist wear provocative clothing and expresses their feelings through their unique, trendy styles as a symbol of the rebirth of feminism. Feminism is not a group, nor was it started by an individual, it is a set of beliefs that people, specifically women want acknowledged in the world. Feminism was around for centuries and it is still going on, despite the changes in the world. Also, women movements have been going on for centuries, but they did not claim they were a group of “feminist”. The women wanted equal rights for women and wanted to make a statement so they protested, stood up for themselves, did conventions, and movements. The women’s movement did not only cover issues that involved women. Luckily, women came together from different backgrounds with issues including race, education, and industry jobs. I learned that women who had a voice in the past was viewed as a negative sign. Women’s movements began when women felt as though they were inferior to men and unfair adjustments happened in their daily lives. Women wanted to work and have as much freedom as a man. After World War II, women were anxious to get out and start becoming more independent as time progressed. I did not know “The Pill” made the outburst of the freedom of women
