The death penalty or capital punishment is an issue that has sparked controversy and anxiety in today’s society. Capital punishment refers to “a sentence of death by execution”, for a crimes committed. In order to be given the death penalty a convict needs to commit certain types of crimes known as “capital crimes” or “capital offences”. Capital crimes can include treason, perjury, kidnapping, rape, terrorism and murder. Today, executions are carried out by either a lethal injection or electrocution. The death penalty should be abolished because it gives prisoners an easier way out of the crimes they committed, a life time in prison with time to think about what they’ve done is a far worse punishment then putting them to death.
The death penalty punishes convicts for their crimes, the death penalty puts people to death. Death penalty should be opposed no matter what crime a person has committed. All crimes are done by criminals and some criminals are not guilty. So some crimes are not guilty. In addition, death penalty should also be opposed regardless of the uniqueness of the crimin...
