In the 21st century, people have become busier and technology has gotten better. With more advanced technology leads more dependence on our cell phones and computers. This effect has taken a toll on our everyday lives as a society; people can no longer go a day or two without their cellphones and the dependence on computers and tablets for the workplace or even schools have skyrocketed within the last decade. This conclusion has led me to the fact that there should not be a law set to oppose the use of hand-held cellphones while driving. Drivers should be able to use hand-held cellphones, if used responsibly, because cellphones provide GPS, the ability to call someone, and apps that help drivers to their best potential. Nowadays, the GPS doesn't even need to be looked at for you to know the direction; technology has provided directions through audio to minimize the hands-on use for a driver to their cellphone. Now you can listen to Siri without having to look on your phone and cause a distraction. Another feature that cellphones provide is the ability for people tomake important phones calls while driving. Some people may spend the majority of their day on the road and don't have time to stop at a particular place just to make a phone call, especially if it has to do with work or an important issue or emergency. Although it is arguable that phone calls can cause a distraction and decrease the safety of a driver, if used responsibly and especially with bluetooth, cellphones can provide a safe and convenient way of communicating to others on the road. Finally, cellphones nowadays feature many driving apps that inform drivers with information they might find useful while driving. An example of this useful information is if there is an accident at a certain point on a highway, traffic routes and alternative routes to get places faster, and potholes
