Patient Helper "They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel" (Maya Angelou). A nursing assistant can impact a patient’s health by checking and making sure they are getting better each day or by just being there for them. A nursing assistant makes a patient more comfortable and has the time to listen to them and makes a nurse work easier to have enough time to check on every patient in the hospital or in the facility. Preparing themselves with a good education to take care of all those patients that need that love and caring nurse, and being ready for all the job responsibilities that there’s is to work in a facility to make a patient’s life a whole lot of better. "Orderlies typically have at least a high school diploma and receive a short period of on-the-job training" (Occupational Outlook Handbook). Graduating and getting a diploma can lead a nurse to a good pad to become an excellent home health aide. Going to college to get the training by passing all the skills needed will also help to be a nursing assistant. In order to success as a home health aide the best thing to do is to know well all the skills and know how to do them so that the patient won’t get hurt even worse if there is something wrong with them. "Aides who work for organizations that receive Medicare reimbursement are required to pass a state competency test that covers such areas as communications skills; observation, reporting, and documentation of patient status and care; reading and recording vital signs; basic infection control; recognition and procedures for emergencies; and basic nutrition" (“Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center”). After knowing all the skills, there’s a test needed to take to show that the student knows how to the skills. By taking the test it will show how well the student learn the skills. After taking the test and showing the scores and seeing that the score is good then the student receives a certification showing that the student is official a nursing assistant. Being a nursing assistant has many responsibilities because every patient is different since every patient might have different problems. “Home Health Aide provide this assistance by visiting people in their homes and doing basic house work, such as cooking grocery shopping, and laundry. Home Health Aides also assist clients with personal care” (“Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center”). When the nurse wants to go to a resident’s house instead of a nursing home the nurse may have more responsibilities because going to a resident’s house has more things to do. Since the patient can’t do much or doesn’t have anybody to look for them the nurse has to help them with more stuff than just checking their vital signs. As a nursing assistant there’s more than just being a nurse there’s times where the patient might want someone to be there to listen to them or make prayers or even give them advises or anything that they might think it’s important for them. Although the responsibilities for a home health aide are really important so that the patient can be in their best condition, it’s also important to see the job outlook to consider the job in the
