Nikki Giovanni is an extraordinary poet, writer, activist and educator. Giovanni’s outspokenness inspires so many people’s lives and has brought the eyes of the world upon her. She is determined and committed to the journey fought for civil rights and equality. Her focus is what her power hold to make a difference in many lives of others. Nikki Giovanni was born June 7, 1943 in Knoxville Tennessee in an all-black suburb called Lincoln Heights in Cincinnati Ohio. After graduating she went to attend University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University for graduate school. In 1968 she published her first volume of poetry, Black Feeling Black Talk, and in 1969 her poem was entered in The New York times. She also gave birth to her only child Thomas Watson in 1968 In 1970 she started making Appearances on Television and then, in 1970 she published her first book Black Feeling and she also wrote Poem of Angela Davis and won Ebony Magazine Women of The year. Giovanni also wrote many poems in 1970, Re- Creation and My House. On January 1, 1971 she published her first collection of essays, Gemini. Which is basically a autobiography on My First Twenty-five years of Being a Black Poet. In 1972 Giovanni joined National Council of Negro Women. And she was The Ladies Home Journal, women of the year. She published a poem for young readers called Tripping Ego. The poem, “Nikki-rosa” written by Nikki Giovanni, an African American poet, who was born in 1943. During the sixties, she emerged as a black poet whose militancy during the civil rights movement made her immensely popular. In 1968, she published the poem “Nikki-rosa”. In the poem “Nikki-rosa”, she uses her childhood as the basis of this story. Nikki-rosa communicates through her childhood memories, the belief that white people and black people have fundamentally different ideas about wealth and happiness. That white people and black people see their personal life experiences differently. Wealth for black people is love, family, and togetherness; not tangible items. The sense of community and acceptance was more valuable than having even an private toilet. White people see “black wealth” as a hard life and focus on the things that she didn't have, i.e., toilet, bathtub., etc.

I agree with Guy Trebay’s view Andrea Fraser's work "untitled.” His view, that on the artist claims empowerment taking place in the work itself were misguided and naïve and the category he has placed on the work. Guy’s article discredits Andrea’s claim of female empowerment when he calls her “a hooker with the heart of gold. (Newyork Times) His statement is judgmental and misogynistic and yet it describes the true colors of the artist.
