Mechanical Engineering is an innovative and research oriented field, the broad and diversified application of this branch always fascinated me. I had always wanted to be a part of this field and be able to contribute to the same. The more I learnt about Engineering Management in my under graduation, the more certain I became that a career in this path suits me. Further, I believe that a master’s degree in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering would provide enough opportunities to add to my intellectual knowledge and would be my first step towards creating something innovative and novel
During my under graduation, I incorporated a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering and Management subjects that instilled a lot of enthusiasm and passion in me. My hankering for Robotics made me to attend workshops on Robotics and which taught me about wired and automated programmed robots.
Industrial visits, to several manufacturing industries introduced me to application-oriented engineering. My respect for education and inclination towards applied science drove me to opt for math, physics and chemistry in my higher secondary education. I visited Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University twice, first time was after I graduated from my high school, my best friend Jake gave me the tour around campus, at that time, he was admitted as a fall freshman that year. I was amazed when I saw this quite town and elegant Randolph hall with department of mechanical engineering in. The Burruss hall filled with art nouveau. I felt peaceful right after I step on campus, and realized that this place was where I want to be. Virginia tech possesses esteemed reputation as one of the top Engineering College among thousands of schools in America. I made a decision that I wanted to be admitted to this university to start my engineering career.

Doing this takes a lot of knowledge and skills. They first start off with an idea that they have. Then they try to make a small module of it. They do this so they know what the product will work without spending a lot of money on it. They have to find the right materials to do this. I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. My undergraduate course in the field of Electronics Engineering has given me a comprehensive exposure to all the core fields of computer science and mathematics. In my junior year, I participated in the prestigious robotic contest-Robocon 2007 with my peers. It was an eye-opening experience as I got an opportunity to manufacture a robot from scratch– from designing, assembling to programming. I was extensively involved in programming it, using C++ language for path planning and motion control. During this phase, I learned about different algorithmic strategies like Line and Sensor-based Algorithm, Fuzzy Logic etc. that could help the robot decide faster navigation and make correct decisions to avoid getting blocked kindling my interest in that area. Overall, it was a great learning and challenging experience as it gave me an insight into how the concepts of different branches of engineering culminate to make a robot and required a host of activities including problem solving, research and team-coordination to achieve our goal.
